So some last minute deal tweaking led to the CRTC rubber stamping the proposed sale of the Score TV assets to Rogers and the deal has closed. What does it mean? Time will tell, but here is what we know out of the gate:

Hockey central playoff xtra starts today hosted from score studio produced at Rogers
Tim and Sid show simulcast starting tomorrow
30 minute best of Tim and Sid airs 4 days a week at 630
Starting may 21 Blue Jays xpress show
Jays post game show xpress

So Rogers owns the TV name and network. The app is controlled by the old Score family and some new investors.

The clock is on Robbers to give the ” gas pipe” to Cam Stewart (ASAP) and move Greg Sansone back to radio to replace blair mornings 9-12.

  2. Steve Clark says:

On Twitter Scott Moore teased more CIS content on the new station. He said that basketball fans “will be very happy”

  3. dsscpu says:

Why would they dump Blair? His ratings are some of the highest that time slot has ever had and he is an enjoyable listen. I would hate to see him go.

Meanwhile, isn’t it ironic that Tim and Sid are now back on-air at the Score?

As for a new name for the channel, sounds like a lot of “xpress” and “xtra” in the programming. Probably will be something along the lines of Sportsnet Xtra.

  4. Brad says:

Good. The Score has been irrelevant for quite some time now so it will be nice to see them finally get a breath of fresh air. It will be interesting to see what the rebranded channel looks like. More CIS would be nice (especially if they start showing CIS hockey) and I’d also love to see them show some Canadian MMA. I know the Score had ‘The Score Fighting Series’ so I’m hoping that is continued and expanded upon.

  5. mark says:

This now means what, four radio shows are also on TV? Baseball Central, Hockey Central, Tim and Sid and PTS? Plus Jays postgames? How many people want to watch radio?

  6. dsscpu says:

It helps for cancon. Also its live programing instead of reruns. Brady and Lang had a run on TV but was scrapped due to low ratings. The show is still taped though, as is Blair’s show.

They should just rename the station as FAN 590 TV and be done with it.

  7. Daniel says:

The CRTC requires they keep a high amount of ‘sports highlights’ content, right? I believe I read that.

I think they should. It’s the only thing that will differentiate it from the other stations at this point. Call it Sportsnet News or something.

  8. Dave in Bolton says:

I like the name SNational and I even tweeted Scott Moore and he liked it as well so who knows.

I think it would be great if all 590 radio shows aired on tv plus it would get Bob to stop complaining about be preempted lol

Had a laugh yesterday listing to Bob with Sam and Ted calling it sportsnet ocho lol

  9. Steve Clark says:

    I prefer Scoretsnet

  10. dsscpu says:

What’s funny is, this is actually Sportsnet 8, so them calling it The Ocho isn’t the worst idea… they already have… Sportsnet East, Sportsnet Ontario, Sportsnet West, Sportsnet Pacific, Sportsnet One, Sportsnet World and Sportsnews (channel 999 on Rogers)… So the Score becoming Sportsnet Ocho fits right in…
