  1. Darren says:

I must be under the weather, Shanhon doesn’t seem to be doing a bad job in the #1 Chair with Friedman #2 today.

  2. Alex says:

I predicted a comment shitstorm here when i heard shannon was the cohost.

Maybe having elliott therebalances things out.

Inbetween 4:55 and 5:00, i had a nightmare it was shannon and cox today.

  3. cam says:

Darren hope you are feeling better soon …

  4. Mike says:

I understand the normal back up Jeff Blair was unavailable… but could they not have just got Sid & Tim to cover PTS? or even Jeff Marek and Michael Grange could have done it…. but JOHN SHANNON WTF! what does this guy have on PD Don Kollins?

  5. alex says:

Well, today at least, Marek did both hockey central at noon and the MvsW at 2:00

I guess since it’s the summer rating book (not as important) and they already had two shows with fill in hosts (Sammut for Blair and Marek/? for Noon show).

Moving Tim and SId to PTS would have been just a wasted day.

Who is showing Wimbledon in Canada? TSN or Sportsnet?

  6. Another Steve says:

    Alex, it’s on TSN.

  7. I thought Shannon and Friedman were pretty good on PTS actually, but I think I’d prefer Friedman as host and Shannon as co-host because Shannon’s introduction of interviews & filling space before & after commercial breaks is just so flat. He sounds like a bored robot. :\

  8. Mike S says:

In the 4 PM hour Shannon was having all kinds of problems saying “Sportsnet Radio The Fan 590″………………..it was pretty comical…………..at one point he said “SportsFan 590″

  9. kyle says:

maybe he’ll think about that the next time he mocks Bob about it (has on several occasions.

  10. Derrick says:

The most surprising thing I learned during PTS was that the CFL season was starting this week.

It’s Toronto centric opinion, but Shannon was right in that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of media coverage about the start of the season.

Rogers axes jobs due to disappointing profits:

    http://www.thestar.com/business/article/1217193–rogers-cutting-375-jobs-in-face-of-shrinking-profit-tougher-competition?bn=1

i wonder if this means anything for the radio side of things. it sure doesn’t bode well for the Jays budget.

  12. Darrell says:

@ Mike in Boston – I am sure all it will mean is Mike Wilner saying that the “money will be there to spend it” when Rogers feels ready for it to be available.

I don’t purposely want anyone to lose their job – but I wouldn’t be upset if it meant Mike Wilner getting the boot. Rogers, Cito Gaston and Alex Anthopolous did promise the fans back in like 2009-2010 (during Gaston’s reincarnation) that 2012 would be the year to compete.

  13. itchy butt says:

I’m hoping for 24 hours of WIlner, just to drive you crazy.

  14. Darrell says:

    Thanks Itchy Butt… LOL!

  15. Dave in Bolton says:

id be very happy if Rogers would put their sports department up for sale

  16. alex says:

Speaking of rogers and underperforming, i was talking to tsm the other day about how almost all the prmotion of the mag has disappeared.

  17. Ticky says:

I noticed the supermarket I frequent stopped stocking Sportsnet magazine around two months ago. Never looked like they sold a copy.
