On 640 with Brady and Watters:
440 – Steve Tasker – bills color analyst
510 – Theo Fleury
540 – Dave Randorf – CFL on TSN
610 – Justin Pogge

TSM TAKE:

Mccown, Brady and Watters- what a start to the week! Finally things are back where they belong. Matt Sekeres has been on the TSM podcast before and was great. It’s nice to see him take a seat on PTS. He is one of the guys I would like to see on the radio more often. So, despite the commish’s best bs, the Tampa Bay Lightning are a complete mess. Cristodero broke the story of the 60 day shotgun and seems to be the guy who knows what is going on best with this mess. Bob O’Billovich is the oldest human being on earth, seriously, wasn’t he 98 when he first coached he Argos? Jonsey???? Let’s hear some raptors rap. Brady is back (and it’s about freaking time!) NFL hall of fame as over the weekend, curious, how many times did Bruce Smith refer to himself as “the best ever”? Tasker was part of that team and should have some insight. Also NFL exhibition season kicked off and Tasker will have something to say about that too. 640 played an old Fleury interview on Friday, today they have him live. They won’t ask him, but I am telling you, if he is thinking comeback, it’s at his accountant’s suggestion. Dave Randorf should be good, unlike the Argo’s play last week.

Funny, Rios deadline is at 1:30pm tomorrow and neither show has a guest booked to discuss. So….discuss amongst yourselves.

Did Brian Burke Trade Maple Leafs Justin Pogge?

IFAT label Did Brian Burke Trade Maple Leafs Justin Pogge?

TSN is reporting that Toronto Maple Leaf GM Brian Burke, true to his word has about to complete a deal that will send goalie Justin Pogge to…..surprise, your Anaheim Ducks. In exchange the Leafs are to receive a “late round draft pick”. Here’s hoping it is a conditional pick that increases should Pogge perform at a certain level or x number of games.

The article also says that the Maple Leafs are expected to sign Joey MacDonald.

Brian Burke Does Right By Justin Pogge- Kaberle Has To Go?

Dudley Do Right Horse Brian Burke Does Right By Justin Pogge Kaberle Has To Go?

Not sure if you saw the news today that Justin Pogge signed a 1 year 2way deal with the Maple Leafs. Made sense to me. Team has a new goalie coach, Pogge is young and well, anything can happen. Guess not:

“Pogge’s a good kid, but it just didn’t work out for him in Toronto, I assured him I would find him somewhere to play this year.”

Good on Burke for doing right by the kid. I mean he simply could have cut him loose and let him try to get a deal elsewhere. Instead Pogge gets a decent contract and Burke will try to find him a home. The only thing I don’t really get is why wash your hnads of him so quickly. The only thing I can assume is that he new goalie coach has already waived the white flag on Pogge. It’s too bad in my opinion.

The Dave Poulin hire is an interesting one. He and Burke are tight and Burke, as I have said in the past Burke is going to want to have someone on board for when Nonis gets his next GM call. If Burke is comfortable with Poulin then who the hell are we to argue?

“In fact, it says here that only a bout of stubbornness – fueled by over-valuing the Czech-born blue-liner – can preclude Burke from pulling off a trade essential to the Maple Leafs’ development by the Aug. 15th contractual deadline. And, what a waste of an opportunity that would be for the hockey club.”

Well Howie, wouldn’t trading Burke away for less than full value be a kneejerk reaction? I mean we idiots of Loserville are going to over-value whomever comes back…..

“While he is unquestionably the Leafs’ best defenseman, Kaberle is not, nor has he ever been, in the upper echelon among NHL stars. He is an above-average performer some nights; middling and ineffective on many others, with an enviable ability to head-man the puck. His repertoire does not include even a shred of physical aptitude, which would seem to disqualify him as a Burke protégé. Though some may invoke Kaberle’s “many contributions to the Maple Leafs”, the club could just as easily have missed the playoffs the past four years without him. Fact is, Kaberle hasn’t appeared in a post-season game in more than half-a-decade, and we can easily count, on one hand, the number of playoff encounters he influenced prior to 2004. Given he is approaching his advanced hockey years [32 next March]; that he’s grown stale in a Toronto jersey, and is coming off a season in which his performance went into marked decline, Kaberle is no longer among the key components of a club undergoing such a vast renovation.”

Remember those words when Kaberle gets dealt and Berger isn’t happy with the return…

“it is almost impossible to conceive that Burke will not be presented an adequate trade proposal before Aug. 15th. Though the GM contends he will only move Kaberle if his “socks” are blown off, he knows he isn’t bartering Zdeno Chara, Nicklas Lidstrom, Dion Phaneuf, Dan Boyle, or any front-of-the-pack NHL defenseman. Kaberle is in the upper-middle echelon of blue-liners, but his value on the supply-and-demand market is likely never to be higher than right now. As such, Burke should attract at least one disproportionate offer for his services.”

And if he doesn’t he should still trade him????? Where is the logic in that? Don’t get me wrong, I think you do trade him, but I have to trust the guy evaluating what is a good deal and not more than that of the guy shacked up at his in-laws “mansion” in Callie!

“Most of all is the sheer futility of a restructuring outfit like the Maple Leafs hanging on to such a delectable trade nugget. As mentioned earlier, mismanagement of that order would invalidate much of what Burke has accomplished since acquiring Hanson in late-March. But, double-B hasn’t attained his lofty status by making many bad calls in key situations, or by shying away from high-stakes maneuvering.”

It’s funny in this article, is it me or does Berger opinion of TK change about 15 times?

“Therefore, I continue to believe it is a foregone conclusion that Kaberle has played his final game in a Toronto jersey, and that the Leafs’ future will be further enhanced before the middle of next month.”

I think Burke has to find a way to creatively maximize this asset. He has to trade Kaberle to make his off season a success because, as good as we think it has been, the only way he gets better up front is by moving Kaberle and all the toughness on the back end isn’t going to help us score goals.

Sounds to me that both Kaberle and Pogge and their respective familes should be looking for cheap quotes for moving companies and cheap flights too. Both are going to be moving and will need to get moving quotes and cheap airline tickets too.

Brian Burke Speaks Out

burke 225x300 Brian Burke Speaks Out
This eatery was in the Las Vegas Airport….Loved the name ‘Burke In The Box’

Sir Brian was on Hockey Central At Noon today. Here is a rather crude interpretation of the interview:

*Burke picked Pittsburgh in 6 games. He didn’t make that public because he thinks that if you don’t make the playoffs you shouldn’t offer commentary- you should shut up- Burke only answering now because they asked me now after the fact.

* Burke didn’t know about the legacy group press conference- this is no different then the Phoenix situation. The Leafs have been told by the nhl not to discuss- He wishes he could speak and he will when he gets his turn. He didn’t see anything on this Legacy Group and therefore won’t say anything until he can.

* Burke was asked about an arena that has a capacity of 30k seats- He said there is a reason why arenas are the size they are- look at Chicago where the crowd isn’t a factor unless they are totally sold out- there is a reason they don’t build arenas that big-

* All he will say on another team in Toronto, is that the proper starting place for an expansion team or relocation is research. The league has never said we have research on this(another team in this market)- the proper start would be with research, that research has never been brought to us so this is all very hypothetical.

* On trading up: No progress yet, not surprised right now, usually happens on the floor- Burke wouldn’t give up much to go to #6- thinks there are a top 5…(yadda yadda yadda..any of this sound familiar yet?)

* Burke was asked if he regrets being so vocal about his intentions to move up? Burke has no regrets- This is a reality – He is not going to surprise anyone, so why not tell the 6 teams ahead of him that he is open to do business. Burke said he would do it again….No gamble here.

* Burke was asked if teams are honest in who they are going to take when having pre-draft discussions with other teams? Burke didn’t give a flat out yes or no. He talked about the years he was able to trade up and said that in the past everyone got who they wanted….

* Burke was asked about his history of drafting brothers before and if he would do it again? Burke said that once you get to know a family you are more comfortable with the bloodline- therefore you have much better odds with a pick….If you like the character of the older brother you are likely to get the same in the younger, if parents raised one kid properly odds are they raised the others well too. He said that they won’t get Schenn at #7.

* Burke was asked what is FA going to be like this year? Burke said that all they have to go on is in watching baseball and what they went through. The change was immediate and instant(as a result of the economy).- Burke expects the same in hockey but who knows…..Teams will still spend though he said.

* Burke was then asked for the lastest on the Monster- Burke said that Toronto is on the list. It was said that his agents want a deal that grantees he will be in the nhl next season as part of the deal- Burke was asked if he was okay with this- Burke said yes!- He said that he doesn’t’ know when he will be here to tour Toronto, but that he thinks it will be before the draft.

* Burke was asked about Justin Pogge. He hasn’t concluded what he is going to do with Pogge- he is a good kid – yes there is a chance Burke won’t qualify him…..

Predicatble Damien Cox Doesn’t Disappoint

Well sports fans, as promised Damien brought out the knife today and aimed it squarely at one Clff Fletcher. At least so far Damien has been very pro Brian Burke, or at least more balanced when it comes to reporting on his actions (or lack thereof). With Cliff, he says the right things, kind of but his criticism is, like Kramer said, hanging right out there…

“Had that not happened, Cliff Fletcher would have remained in charge through to this coming June, and it’s difficult to imagine the damage that might have been done by that time. Fletcher’s a nice man who owns a Stanley Cup ring and is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. He is part of hockey history, and that will never change. But he wasn’t a suitable fit to run an NHL team in the cap era, yet Richard Peddie was prepared to let him to do so. Fletcher gave away viable draft picks like candy last summer (even a fifth rounder was obscene for Ryan Hollweg) to try and put a better team on the ice immediately and in so doing hang on to the “interim” GM position. The last piece evidence that he was prepared to sell the future was the deal that brought Lee Stempniak to town for Alex Steen and Carlo Colaiacovo, a deal that will be even more difficult to swallow next season when the light-weight winger earns a $3.5 million salary.”

One point to remember on Stempniak, is that is cap hit next year is under 2 million. Damien has been anti Cliff since Cliff took over. I think Cliff did a hell of a lot better then JFJ was doing or ever could have done. The Hollweg deal was a joke, I think the Mayers one was equally as bad and I have to think that Wilson was at least partially on board with trading Steen and Carlo. He did make the move for Schenn, which some people still argue was a bad move given the other players who were available at no additional cost to the Leafs. He did deal away McCabe and get Van Ryn back and he did bring in Grabovsky whom only yesterday Wilson said he “had all the time in the world for Grabovsky” which seems in stark contrast to what other media members seem to say his reputation is.

“Yesterday, meanwhile, the league fined the Leafs $500,000 and stripped them of a fourth round pick for the Jonas Frogren signing last summer. The contract was illegal, but rather than running it past the NHL first, Fletcher just did it and now the Burke administration is paying the price. Whether Fletcher really understood that the deal wouldn’t pass muster is unclear. The new CBA, after all, is a complicated beast. But that this was all done to sign Frogren, a marginal NHLer with suspect foot speed who can’t stay healthy, is ridiculous. Again, the notion was that Frogren would make an immediate difference, however, and that, not long-term growth, was the priority of Fletcher, which is why Jeff Finger was signed to such an outlandish contract How’s three more years at $3.5 million hit you today?”

Again, I may be alone on this one, but the Finger deal doesn’t bother me. By the Buds are really competitive the Finger deal won’t be so bad and it will be almost over. The guy is exactly as advertised, a steady defencemen. He doesn’t hurt you and he doesn’t embarrass you. I think if he had some strength around him his play would be even better. Let’s say that the Frogren matter is a pain in the ass and it stinks to high hell too.

“Burke may never lack for bluster, but he showed great class yesterday in not making any comment at all that could be seen as a condemnation of the previous caretaker administration for the Frogren screwup, and good for him. It would have been easy for him to roll his eyes at the loss of the very same draft pick that he essentially bought from Tampa for $500,000 in a complicated deadline deal, one that he made sure the league would accept BEFORE he did it, so instead he refused comment and issued an nondescript, let’s-move-on press release. ”

True, good for him. However what good would it have done for him to carve Cliff. There are lots of people who love the silver fox and carving him would only have made Burke looked bad. I think Burke knows that Cliff did what many of us would have if we were in the same situation. He came in midstream with no real mandate and no real timetable.

“The good news for Leaf fans is that while Burke and his underrated sidekick Dave Nonis are aggressive managers, they know the CBA and always make the extra phone call. They’ll make mistakes. Christian Hanson may be the first one, who knows. But it won’t be because they don’t have a logical plan or don’t know the rules.”

Let’s remember that when the sword comes out and Damien wants Burke to fall on it. We all know that day will come. It always does. I don’t know why he would point to Hanson in this column. I can’t imagine how he could classify signing a kid to a 2 year entry level deal as being a mistake. Say he plays less then 50 games as a leaf ever. What did it cost him. It didn’t cost him a pick. There was no compensation outside of money. Money he has lots of. Seems like a strange example to throw in to this piece.

In his mailbag segement of his blog today, he has an interesting response to a question about Justin Pogge (and no, I didn’t write it):

“What is unclear to me is whether Corey Hirsch is a suitable goaltending coach to bring the best out in Pogge, and Burke will have to make that assessment this summer. It would be a shame if the Leafs decided they didn’t even want to re-sign the young goaltender, but these are the tough decisions you have to make in a cap world.”

Funny how I said the exact same thing about Hirsch only a day or two ago. I have no clue if he is the right go or not. There are lots of good goalie coaches out there and to be honest I had never heard Hirsch’s name mentioned among them. That doesn’t mean he isn’t. With respect to resigning him, there is no way in hell Pogge will be able to demand a one way deal. His play hasn’t warranted that. So I am not sure why the cap comment here. Burke should be able to sign Pogge to a deal that pretty much pays him the league minimum. I still don’t see why they wouldn’t try to sign him to a two way deal….

Is There A Better Interview ThAn Brian Burke Right Now?

Toronto Maple Leaf GM Brian Burke was in studio with Greg Brady for an hour today. The audio is up on 640’s site site. It’s great listening material (really makes one long for JFJ). Burke is a very smart cat, who knows his audience, has good rapport with his hosts and has a great sense of humour. Unlike others who have come before him of late, he is honest, and says what is on his mind. None of this anything new, it just refreshing to hear in these parts. Brian Burke is the anti-J.P. Ricciardi. He has none of that I am smarter then all of you droll that comes from J.P.’s mouth every time it is opened.

In any event, here is a rough version of what Mr. Burke had to say with thanks to LT who helped take some notes as I watched Lost late this evening/early morning.

The coaching staff is doing a great job. I can’t take credit for hiring Ron Wilson and I can’t take credit for drafting Luke Schenn; I wish I could. Wilson won’t get any votes for coach of the year, and it is too bad. GM’s don’t get to vote on coach of the year, only get to vote on goalie award( which we know nothing about). Brady suggested that if the Leafs aren’t unhappy about where they are going to draft why should the public be unhappy, Burke said that they haven’t had the discussion about where we are going to draft. Still want to beat as many teams as possible even when you are out of the hunt. That is their job. He then discussed the trade deadline. Prices for rentals has gone done in new cap era. We were willing to take cap space back. Amazed we couldn’t add players with salary and term. There were very few sellers at the deadline. The prices we were offered never improved, we asked for a first but always could have dropped the prices. The Leafs were only offered other teams big mistakes. Burke said that the 2010-11 season concerns us with the cap going down. Brady asked Burke if he agreed with Richie Rich’s (without naming him) assertion that the leafs are in cap trouble in 2010-11. Burke said he thinks we are fine in 2010-2011 as we are. Have to be careful in what we do to stay fine. Oddly, Burke said that he was surprised by what happened in Anaheim. Ownership told Burke that we were going to be there all year. Then when he was in Toronto he got a call that they changed they there minds, which they are entitled to do. Burke added that he wants to kick Anaheim’s asses till their noses bleed every time they play them, but wishes them well in all other games.

In the second segment, Burke explained that Martin Gerber didn’t get suspended for pushing the official as many are reporting. He got suspended for firing the puck at the official. The rule states that it is an automatic 3 game suspension for shooting the puck at an official even if you don’t hit the official. Burke also said that the goal shouldn’t have counted last night. The player looked like he was digging his car out of a snow drift in Ajax. He was clear to Not make this an indictment of the officials, they do a great job, but they do make mistakes and this was one of them. Burke said that Curtis Joseph to start on Friday. Justin Pogge has not earned more time in the NHL, his play has been fair, not bad but just fair. Burke wouldn’t guarantee that Poggee will see more time in NHL this season. He really hates this 4 time recall rule. He challenged Paul Kelly to change the rule, the NHLPA is the sole obstacle to changing this rule. He begged Brady to ask Paul Kelley what the opposition is to the rule. Burke went on that this is a rule that makes no sense. There is solid support at GM level to change it, but, the PA is the only opposition. Burke has never heard a good argument for the rule. Burke hates the shootout, but voted for it and I will again because the fans love it. No different then settling a tied NFL game by having a quarterback throw the ball through a tire. A shootout is that much of a gimmick. Every fan stands up for it, everyone loves it as a fan. Some people say Canadians don’t like shootouts and that is BS you couldn’t talk in our building last night during the shootout it was so loud. Brady asked Burke what he thought of the point system, and Burke did a great job turning it around on Brady. If nothing else listen to the end of 2nd segment. It was Burke at his best- I love when he says ok, so now it is time to take a break- PRICELESS.

The final segment Burke answers questions so it was harder to really write it as it sounded but here is out best effort:

Christopher Didomenico & Dale Mitchell:
- happy with both players progress
-He gets reports on both players, got to see Didomenico at world junior and he had a good tournament
- both guys have a chance to play for the Leafs
- they are not locks
- Didomenico….skillset says NHL but but he is a slender young man…needs to put on some weight which has been hard for him to do…not for a lack of diligence in the weight room…just some guys have trouble putting weight on
RFAs
- cant talk about names but i can talk about my approach
- I have never “offer sheeted” a player
- Not the tactic that i am planning on employing at this point.

Draft Lottery: likes the existing system where you can’t move up many spots, likes it better than NBA system, doesn’t want to reward teams who perform better then those who bottom out, it’s not equitable.

Draft rounds…when asked about the number of rounds, he said “I’d like 26″
Brampton Batalian Player Matt Duchene…Cliff Fletecher seen at a game: Burke likes him, agrees with caller that he is Gilbert Perreault like

Any UFA’s you are interesting or wait till 2010: Can’t mention players…not UFA until July 1 (tampering)…we do have cash and cap space….but, what will the cap look like in 2010-2011?..cap lags economy…so, cap wont likely drop much (if any) for next season but…the following year…it could drop….tight rope we walk this summer…2010 we’ll no more about economic reality…The potential crop does look good for 2010, but some of those guys wont actually be available as their clubs will sign them…we’ll see.

Minor league teams
- Worried about the minor league teams in this economy? NHL relies on it…NFL for example, doesn’t need to have them…NCAA is where they get players….Burke owns part of a team in Chilowack, knows the situation…they may be better aligned to weather the storm at their price point then the NHL.

Prospects:
Mikhail Stefanovich: guys are high on him
Jimmy Hayes: good prospect, needs more time, happy with progress
Viktor Stahlberg: great year at Vermont, might be the best of the 3 right now

Mikhail Grabovsky: RFA, playing well, I give him credit….talks haven’t gone well…Jeff Jackson responsible for managing this one
US Olympic team: taking the best players, not taking kids to teach them for future years…build the team like i pick teams, top 6, bottom 6.

Dumb call re: draft eligibility, it’s too young but US law won’t allow it to be changed.

Good on Burke for sitting in with Brady for this hour. It was very good radio and once again restored some hope. Does it guarantee a Stanley Cup? Nope. Does it mean it will be fun to watch, absolutely!

Thanks again to LT.

Maple Leafs Doing What Has To Be Done….

Early reviews are that the Buds were perhaps the better team in the first period. I don’t know what the authors were smoking, on my tv set the buds got lit up. Justin Pogge let in a couple of soft goals and the game was over almost as quickly as it started. The good news is that no one got hurt. The bad news is that no one we would like to dump played well enough to make anyone notice them. The best news is that we are one game and one day closer to both the deadline and the end of the season.

Did anyone find any compelling story for the Leafs coming out of this game? No really, what the hell are the folks going to write about? Thankfully there are more games this week including the big match against the player Brady may or may not have referred to as the biggest free agent bust of the season! Let’s get this over right now, fans will and have every right to boo #13 on Saturday night. There I said it. There will be a boisterous cheer for him, a few boos and then those who boo and those who cheer him every time he touches the puck. Every time he says something like I loved playing here, the fans were awesome but I have moved on everyone of age has to drink.

Monday Toronto Sports Roundup

Justin Pogge is back up. He is supposed to get his first regular-season start at home when the Leafs play the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.

I am sure the talking heads will be going nuts about this but….. Wilson and Burke will be saying all the right things, this is scheduled, no big deal, etc. etc.

Darren Dreger’s most recent column, never has so little been said in such a large piece of work. Ok, Burke has the list. That took a line. The rest of the piece??? Yadda Yadda Yadda.

Look at this gem:

“So, what Brian Burke has to determine is whether that value translates in to a trade package that helps the organization more than a veteran puck moving defenceman who wants to stay and be part of the rebuild.”

Ya think????

Mathieu Schneider goes to the Habs (along with a conditional draft pick) for a 2nd and 3rd rounder. Atlanta saves $500,000 by making the deal yesterday. I know value goes up as time goes on, but so does risk of injury. I loved Ron Wilson’s response to any deadline requests, something to the effect of we have to build through the draft. Honesty, always a good policy.

Interesting to see who has recently been injured so to gauge what teams may be in shopping modes. Wow are the New York Rangers in free fall mode. They are playing as badly as the Habs of late. Will this be the week that the Sens pass the Leafs in the standings? Here is hoping so…

Dallas Brad Richards is out with a hand/upper body injury, Phillipe Boucher
Carolina Justin Williams out with a broken hand
Chicago Patrick Sharp will miss 2-3 weeks with a lower-body injury and Nikolai Khabibulin will not travel with Chicago on their Florida road swing.
New York Rangers- Paul Mara shoulder
Columbus Rusty Klesla is out for a couple of weeks
Edmonton Oilers defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky out for the season

Yet another example of the truth in no dumber animal alive then the professional athlete:

“Phoenix Suns guard Jason Richardson was arrested in Scottsdale after police said he was driving 88 km/h above the limit with his unrestrained three-year-old son in the car.

A Scottsdale police officer first saw Richardson driving 108 km/h in a 64 km/h zone Sunday night and followed him, police said Monday.

That’s when the officer clocked him at 145 km/h in a 56 km/h zone and pulled him over.

Police said Richardson admitted to speeding and identified himself as a Suns player. The officer saw Richardson’s son in the back seat of the car and that he was not in a child seat.”

Richardson should lose his license permanently. Ok, you want to drive 88km over the limit? Your an idiot. You do so with your kid in the car, your a fucking idiot. You do so with your kid in the car with the kid not seated in a car seat, your done. D O N E !

Ahhhh Cito- you think members of the media are out to get you and then you make a comment like this:

“Maybe that didn’t come out right,” Gaston said. “It’s kind of like regrouping. Nobody likes to use rebuilding. That’s a bad word. We’re not really rebuilding. We’re getting ready for 2010.”

Did you go to the J.P. Ricciardi school of media training. It’s not a lie if we know the truth? Or the Bill Clinton School? Rebuilding, retooling, getting ready…who the hell cares…semantics is all it is. Lipstick on a pig. This is the first spring training since the jays came to be that I could careless about it. Seriously. If the quote from Cito wasn’t on TV tonight I wouldn’t have gone looking for evidence of it. I am not the least bit intrigued by anything the ball club is doing right now. They are getting ready for 2010? Me too!

Vesa Toskala Isn’t Hurt Cujo Gets Family Time

Ass Kiss

Ass Kiss

Ron Wilson was on 640 Toronto with Brady and Watters….Another great interview:

Highlights:

Vesa Toskala is not hurt at all
Vesa has it in his mind that he is going to play every game and therefore he has to save his energy for games!
Unless Vesa is insane, the onus is on Toskala to tell us he is hurt!
Cujo has 4 kids, why would i drag him to Buffalo to take a few shots in warmup and sit on the bench when he can be home playing with his kids
As long as Grabovsky doesn’t let the Montreal incident get into his head, he will be fine.
Ask any goalie if they would rather sit at home or sit on the bench and they willl tell you they would rather be home.
We intended to play Kronwall. We aren’t not going to call up a guy because they may get claimed. I think you will see other guys get called up- We don’t want anyone to get buried in the minors…
Conditioning isn’t were it should be- they have 5 months in the off-season to build a real aerobic base. San Jose test results blow our guys results out of the water. We will get better and I used the media to get the message out there because i am damn serious about it.

A serious love in by Mr. Watters here folks. Was Brady asleep at the wheel or what??? I find the Cujo thing truly AMAZING…He dragged his starter to Buffalo so his backup could spend time with his kids???? WOW! I have never heard that one before. That is an entirely new Toronto Maple Leafs that’s for sure. If a goal for Burke and Wilson is to change the way the players think about the team, this will definitely do it.

Also, what the hell is Toskala thinking. Why scream the injury bug when you aren’t going to get backed by management. He looks like a total idiot now. His coach basically thinks he is INSANE!!!

Like LT said, look for the other vets to get recalled soon. Pogge is going to get a lot of ice time over the next 30 something games….

Classic stuff folks!

I will provide the link to the brutal 640 site when it is up.
