whateves…MON stole a point with their tails between their legs. gomez and cammeleri were complete non factors until OT. gionta was incredible…in the 1st.

Anyone who would suggest that the leafs are big and slow doesn’t know what they are talking about. That first line was skating circles around montreal last night.

Yeah there were a few mistakes that ended up in the back of the net but that happens on opening night. I loved the 40+ shots on net and I loved how the new skill on defense was able to not only keep the puck in a lot of times where last years team wouldn’t have, but they also were able to get shots on net from the point while under pressure. Keep this up and good things will happen.

Grabbed some headlines from this mornings papers…I’m attributing the generally “appropriate” headlines/reporting to the work of TSM over the past year or so They didn’t bite on the chance to jump all over the team, Burke and Wilson after game 1.

The Star (Cox): Leafs: A work in progress “Familiar problems surface after controlling Habs for most of game”
- though the article was simply a fair recount of the highs and lows of the game.

The Star (Hunter): Leafs pay for their sins “Poor penalty killing lets Habs back in game before Gorges scores unlikely winner in OT”
- Similar to Cox, a fair recount of the game.

Post (Traikos): Late overtime goal pushes Canadiens past Leafs.
- Again, a good summary of the game.

Globe (Wharnsby): Price, Habs steal one from Leafs

Sun (Longley): Spirited but sloppy start
