If Jason Taylor can leave the Miami Dolphins, Can Mats Sundin leave the Maple Leafs?

Hard to not look at the similarity of the situations. Taylor, the heart and soul and certainly the face of the Miami Dolphins since Dan Marino retired has been dealt from the Dolphins to the Redskins for a 2nd and a 6th round draft picks . Of course, the Dolphins traded Taylor where the Leafs couldn’t trade Sundin.

Taylor, an 11 year veteran (and apparently a good dancer too) played every game the Dolphins played over the last 8 years. He was a team captain and included in every major team marketing campaign over the last several years. Now, with the team in peril, a new sheriff in town (Bill Parcells), Taylor will leave the one team he has ever played for.

Also like Sundin, Taylor has earned several accolades:

# 6x Pro Bowl selection (2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)
# 3x First-team All-Pro selection (2000, 2002, 2006)
# 1x Second-team All-Pro (2001)
# AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2006)
# Walter Payton Man of the Year Award (2007)

The old adage says that if Wayne Gretzky can be traded, anyone can be traded
Perhaps for Leaf Fans the new one is much like Jason Taylor leaving the Dolphins, Mats Sundin could too leave the Maple Leafs.
