Ducks’ Owner Plea Rejected! Brian Burke rumors to heat up!

This is big news folks, both from a hockey standpoint and a legal one too. It is not that often that someone charged with a crime agrees to plead guilty and get a lesser sentence only to have the agreed upon plea rejected by a judge.

What has to happen is the prosecutor in the case strikes a deal with the defendant, then the judge who presides over the case has to accept the plea. In this case. The judge said the punishment didn’t fit the crime (it was too soft)…..

Looks like the owner, Henry Samueli could be headed to club fed.

The plot thickens….and Brian Burke’s job….speculation will grow rest assured eh Stu????

The story is here…

Hey boss,

Question for ya. If Burke does not become the next GM of the Leafs, who would you put your money on right now based on available people at the end of the season?

Is it possible their just grooming new assistant to the GM Joe Nieuwendyk to take over?

Only 2 weeks till PRE-SEASON!!! 🙂

Great question. The challenge for the guys doing the hiring is that they need to hire the best guy who can also handle the board of directors. That caveat will take a lot of people out of the mix.

Burke is a guy who can do it, question is, is he best guy available? Ken Holland could do it, but will he be available. Doug Wilson may be available, but could he handle the board? I think not. What about Darcy Reiger? How good could he be if he had $ behind him?

2 weeks is right and it couldn’t come any sooner. Remember Watters guaranteed that Burke would be here by the beginning of the season so the next couple of weeks should be interesting.

Thanks for the response. I agree with the names you threw around there and I think that after Burke I’d believe Reiger would be an awesome fit plus he wouldn’t have to move which must be a plus for most.

Too bad we never got any closer with getting Bowman on board but after his new job with the Hawks I’d say he’ll retire for good before he moves to another team now.

On another note, I wonder if Fletcher is still going to try and make that ‘grand slam’ trade that he’s been mentioning? Hmm….

Whatever happens, just please no more picks going out and no prospects; take from the 07/08 roster players only (Poni, Antro, Coli, Staj, Steen, White etc.)

Here is the question for you. Which player(s) on the current roster do you think will be part of the next leaf “contender”?
See my next post….for more on this
