Bikini Of The Day- Sports Day In Review

Hey all:

I am taking the kids skiing today, call it deadline burnout. So there won’t be much new up today. A couple of random thoughts:

Anyone think we should start to root for the Leafs to make the playoffs. I mean, let’s use the George Costanza approach, say one thing and hope the opposite comes true. Martin Gerber looked like Ken Dryden last night SERENITY NOW.

Shaq calls Chris Bosh Rupaul and Bosh’s response:
“I didn’t laugh or anything, it wasn’t funny, I was kind of upset with that. “He has been around the league for awhile and I expected a lot more professionalism out of him. I thought we were cool. Whatever.” … “The sad thing about it is that I never said some kind of bold statement. I said he was in the key and they never called three seconds on him one time. I expressed that and it got around that I said he cheated to get 45 points. Why would I say somebody cheated? I wish I could stay in the lane and get 45 points.”

Not only has his team sucked this year, but that is the best “CB4” can do?????????? You were kind of upset??????

“That’s strong words coming from the RuPaul of big men,” O’Neal told the Arizona Republic. “I’m going to do the same thing (when O’Neal next plays Bosh next season) I did before, make him quit. Make ’em quit and complain. It’s what I do.”

Good old Chris, “stick and stones…..”

“Never close on Poni,” Burke said in an e-mail yesterday, adding that the suggestion of the veteran winger heading to Music City was “B.S.” … Ah yes, love those random rumours from a Toronto Radio station suggestion that not only suggesting the Preds and Leafs were talking but that a deal was DONE….

Not much else out there folks…have a great talk at ya later….

Here is your bikinibeat.org bikini of the day:

Didn’t I hear Brady say at 1:00 pm on Wednesday that Dominic Moore had been traded to Chicago?……………and then, when that turned out not to be true, he made sure he said that the NHL Network were the ones who had first reported the erroneous trade…………….I don’t remember Brady referencing the NHL Network when he initially mentioned the trade on his station.

A lot of places were reporting Moore to Chicago. The score had it on there website for a while and then they downgraded it to a rumour.

Mike – you are probably correct. But the FIRST time it was mentioned, I attributed it to NHL Network. After that, we began speculating as to who Chicago might be moving back. I probably jumped too early, but in 7 hours of radio, that’s the only time we did that.

It’s nice you come on so anonymously and push your “agenda”, but I’ll sleep real well tonight with my credibility intact. As someone who “benefits” from AM640, and has in the past, it’s nice to have someone like yourself to, again, anonymously, keep us in check.

Unlike the Sportsnet/590 folks who errantly reported on FIVE different deals, being first is nice, being accurate is even better. I can swallow the bullet for the Dom Moore thing, but I would argue we backed off it very quickly after a very reliable source tipped me that the Blackhawks were about the walk from the deal.

Always enjoy your listenership though. Hopefully you get one of the people meters in the fall, although your “bosses” might not like where it’s tuned to, given who you seem to enjoy carrying the water for.

And….you’re GD right I ordered the code red against Santiago, AND outed the NHL Network because they got it wrong in the first place.

Should I blame someone else? Should I be like our competition, and pretend that he never said it. I’ve been nothing but honest and accountable for every single thing that goes on our show. Whether Bill says it or I say it, it has to be right.

We told people 2 weeks ago that Toskala was about to be shut down for the season. They played him a few more games, but we were absolutely right. We carried the day last July 1st. We broke the Sundin news, when the river known as “De Nial” (yes, I know, you’re looking for a “Jewel of the Nile film reference…not happening) was flowing freely at the “all-sports station”.

I jumped on a Leaf trade around 1pm and we did the right thing and backpedaled away from it when it was erroneous. There’s not a thing I’d do differently. Thankfully the TWO guys in town who either make things up, or get them consistently wrong don’t get a paycheque from us, because then we’d be responsible.

Wow………….it doesn’t sound like he “enojoys my listenership”, does it?…………he obviously thinks I am the bastardized son of Nelson Millman…………….I have said plenty of nice things about his show on this site but I guess he never read them…………….and I have said plenty of critical things about the other station (especially about Landry, Toth, Kypreos, Farraway, McCown, etc) but I guess he never read them either……………I have trashed McCown over and over again for his infamous “scoops”, so I don’t know how I can be accused of having an agenda…………..in fact the person who runs this site asked me to be a contributor (which I politely declined) so I doubt he thinks that I have an agenda……………if AM 640 referenced the NHL Network when they first reported the Moore trade then I apologize………….I did my best to listen to as much as possible but I guess I wasn’t able to listen to everything………….the AM 640 deadline coverage was quite a bit better than the FAN 590 coverage (especially when Doug McLean was not on)……………but that is not unusual, because the hockey coverage in general on AM 640 is better than FAN 590…………..I have always said that a die-hard hockey fan should listen more to AM 640 while other sports fans should probably listen more to FAN 590.

I am much LESS sarcastic writing than I am on radio. Every listener matters to me. And Nelson Millman is probably too good a guy to have “bastard sons”. I don’t take myself too seriously, Mike — don’t sweat it. I love the gig and in today’s economy, am real thankful to be where I’m at, and to the people I work with.

I think you’ve come around on the fact that I don’t ALWAYS bash our competition. I have immense respect for the folks at 590, and they’ve earned the right to wear the title belt at 4pm, no question. All we can do is put our heads down and peck away at them.

Yes I agree that you do not ALWAYS bash the other station………..in fact it appears to me that you don’t do it as much on the air as you used to…………..and I have always said that a lot of your criticism of them is right on the money………….I have a bit of a soft spot for FAN 590 because I have listened to them since they started…………..but I am not naive enough to think that they don’t make many mistakes (and often they are major mistakes)…………….as I have said before your show and McCown’s show are completely different but they are both entertaining…………..I go out of my way to listen to both shows almost in their entirety (please don’t ask me how).

Regarding your comments about “anonymous”, isn’t that the whole point of sites like this?……………isn’t everyone here (including the guy who runs it) anonymous?…………..I remain anonymous on here not because I want to, but because it is expected…………..if you would prefer that I reveal my name on this site I would have no problem with that………….if you would prefer that I talk to you on the phone (either on the air or off) I would have no problem with that, although I doubt your listeners would want to hear me talk about anything………….if you would prefer that I send you an e-mail I would have no problem with that (I will have to find your e-mail address on your website)………..if you would prefer that I meet you in person I would have no problem with that………………my intent was not to take a gratuitous shot at someone without revealing my identity……………..hopefully you believe me when I say that………….I find it very refreshing that someone in your position not only reads sites like this but posts to it as well.
