Shannon Out At NHL Network?

Although not officially released, word on the street is that John Shannon is out as top dog at the NHL Network.  Shannon, you may recall was head of HNIC for  a long time and has bounced around in similar gigs as they relate to hockey coverage on the little screen.  This from the press release announcing his hire at NHL Network:

“Before joining the NHL and NHL Network he served as the Vice President, Programming and Executive Producer of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, overseeing the launch, implementation and operation of Leafs TV and Raptors NBA TV.  Prior to that, he spent six years as the Executive Producer of Hockey Night in Canada on CBC.  Shannon has also been involved in the production of five Olympics, receiving an Emmy for his work on NBC’s coverage of hockey at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.”

Hope he finds a new gig soon.

On the Subject of TV.  Love this quote from Keifer Sutherland:

“Television as a medium has lost 40% of its viewership…I was aware of the terrible ramifications for Major League Baseball after it went on stike.  The National Hockey League went on strike and it was replaced by F—ing poker.  And poker did better.  And you can’t find a hockey game now.”

So Jack Bauer is not a big fan of Versus eh?  That is if he can find it.  And if anyone could find something hard to find it would be Jack Bauer right??? I ‘m just saying…
