Has anyone else seen these banners on the Globe and Mail Sports site today:
So, one seat at minimum costs me at least $945 (plus all taxes and other BS). I have to put up 20% and I can attend an event with Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani plus I get a chance to win a trip? Oh, where do I sign up? I mean the team has so much hope, so much promise, with the economy in the shitter, that is exactly where i want to stick my hard earned money! Does anyone think 1 person with a brain in their head will see this promotion and say- ” Oh MY GOD- I have to buy seats right now!”?
Didn’t think so..
TSM
The Leafs are pulling some similar shit, by offering Brian Burke face-time as an incentive to buy. That’s just intimidating.
The Raps on the other hand, should have some trouble selling those seats… disgust.
The Leafs are offering this to whom? There are no seasons tickets available. The question is, if the Raptors offered face time with Brian Burke to any new subscribers would that land them any new tickets. Blue Jays and Raptors are going to be in tough this year(and next) in terms of attendance.
Maybe, but I think the Raptors do a lot better than the hard core Leaf fan likes to think.
While having a terrible season, the Raptors are 9th in attendance, just behind LA and New York

Going to be tough all over….they probably needed to think about a discount on seats for paying far in advance vs. gimick….cash rules these days.
Regardless – sports teams are going to be in tough….Can you imagine places like Detroit?
Thanks Daniel. Do you think that will hold true next year?
Pistons cut prices (then their owner died). Not sure what Tigers and Red Wings did. It isn’t pretty there for sure.
I’m sure you’re right, and they probably will see their attendance drop next year.
I just threw their good attendance numbers out there because I think the Toronto media downplays the support for the Raptors and Jays sometimes, simply because they don’t have the die hard support that the Leafs do. I think that there’s more support out there for the Raps and Jays than they are given credit for.
All that being said, I’m sure you’re right and the Jays and Raptors will take a hit next year, as will most of the teams around North America..
