430 Richard Rodier, Balsillie’s Lawyer
440 Derian Hatcher, Flyers Development Coach
510 Brian Duff, NHL Network
540 Mark Seidel, NHL Draft Expert
610 Dreger/Morrison, Inside The NHL

TSM TAKE: Now this is much more like it! Double dose of Richard Rodier. I wonder who will have the tougher questions for him? Film at 11. I don’t care what anyone says on the record, a commissioner doesn’t know that an owner of 1 team is financing the purchase of another??? I smell a rat. Impropriety or not, the optics are all wrong. Elliott is a good guest, Blue Jays are right playing the way most people expected them to, what’s to talk about? I am not sure how much more can be said about yesterday’s ruling, but Becker is a good listen. Question for Hayden is, did he get any good shit off of Phelps? Derian Hatcher the player, turned coach, good story, worth interviewing??? Rogers 10 talking about what pres tel? Ah yes, a draft expert. Let’s hear about all the gems that are going to be uncovered, better to talk to the Red Wings scouting department then this guy don’t you think? Maybe the boys at 6:10 will have some good scoops today.

Today’s lineups are a good example of how different these two shows are………………if you are a hockey puck and you can’t get enough hockey even when the season is over, then Wilbur’s show is for you (every one of their guests is hockey-related)……………….if you prefer discussion on more than one sport (with a focus on off the field issues) then McCown’s show is for you…………….I’m not sure I want to listen to a story on swimming, but then again I really don’t want to hear Derian Hatcher either (but Duff and Dreger/Morrison should be good)………… our friend Julian would say, it’s nice to have a choice and some variety in our sports radio

Good point, Mike S.

Toronto sports fans do seem to be divided in a way, between the general sports fan who will follow all the Toronto teams, and the old school hard core hockey people who only want to hear about the NHL.

I think this makes sense in the ratings. McCown does more than double Watters, but his subject matter is far more broad. Watters seems to be going for just one segment of the sports fan here – so, considering that his show is doing pretty well.

But, now that it’s summer, what do the Watters Show, Leafs Lunch and HC at noon do? All hockey shows in the summer has always seemed kind of silly to me.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
