Monster No Closer, Must Read

There is a rumour out there that The Monster has narrowed his choice down to Toronto and San Jose. Adrian Dater has a story tonight saying that is bs and that the monster is no closer to a decision. I am going with Dater on this one.

Your homework assignment is to read Jeff Blair’s coloumn today. It’s fantastic. It’s further proof that Blair is quickly becoming one of the best in the business in this town.

His take on the jays needing to dump Rios and Wells for money reasons is right on. His assesment of the Burke draft entirely accurate and his comment about the irrelevant nationality of the Leafs first round pick is a homerun.

Who does the Monster think he is…Scott Niedermyer or Mats Sundin? I’d like to see him join the Leafs but…geesh…what’s taking so long?

It’s popular to slag Rios, but he’s really not having that bad a year. Not good, but not awful. If he has a good second half, it has a chance to be fairly respectable. Wells, on the other hand, yeah, brutal year. Crazy bad.

I really like Blair, but I’m not sure it’s really breaking news that the Jays would jump for joy if they could get out from under Wells’ massive contract.

The real key for the Jays coming up will be resigning Halladay. They’ve got a real good young base, gotta find a way to hang on to him. I think they will.

I have a bad feeling Gustavvson ends up in Dallas. They have quite a few swedes there already and I believe even guys he has played with previously.

I really hope I’m wrong because it’s slim pickings out there right now for decent ‘free’ goalies right now (as in goalies that won’t cost us much to sign).

Not sure if I’d get too excited about a season of Taskala/Gerber either. Wonder if Burke makes a pitch for Biron even though I have read that Colorado is making a strong push for him. Would have to be signed at a discount though, I mean he lost his starting spot with Philly so that has to mean discount…
