Orlando Magic’s Hedo Turkoglu a Toronto Raptor?

The Score is reporting that Turkoglu has chosen the Raptors! Wow- Everyone said he was going to Portland and then as I was reading that he had stopped talking to Portland the score store came out:

“You heard on The Score Tonight with Tim and Steve (say what?).

A monumental shift over the course of a few hours. Reports that Hedo Turkoglu had agreed to a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers have been squashed by new reports that Turkoglu is joining the Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors were believed to be Turkoglu’s first choice, but the club did not seem willing to match the offer Portland tabled. All that seems to have changed.

The Blazers deal was reported to be for five years, $50 million, while the deal with Toronto is reported to be five years and $56 million.

More details to follow. ”

I am trying to track down DL for reaction.

Here is more reaction and commentary:
” ESPN’s Ric Bucher reported that Turkoglu’s wife played a major factor in the decision, as she preferred living in Toronto more than she did Portland. The Raptors were the Blazers’ staunchest opponent in the race to sign the 6-foot-10 forward, and appear to be the likely destination for the 30-year-old.”

“ESPN.com is still reporting that Orlando Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu is signing with Portland, but NBA.com has said that Hedo has put that on hold to entertain an offer from Toronto.

David Aldridge is saying that a league source told him the Turkoglu is not going to the Trail Blazers.”

That from the Orlando Sentinel

According to globesports.com, Turkoglu has signed with the Raps!

Apparently he hoped to sign with Toronto because of the city’s multicultural makeup. Nice to see an NBA guy want to be here! The Europeans seem to like it here a lot… apparently Rasho Nesterovic still lives here permanently, even after he was traded to the Spurs.

We’re now at 500 in the “it’s up to my wife” dept

Atonio Davis’s nutty bride wanted out of Toronto
Hedo’s smart wife wanted in 😉

to be fair Eggbert, she was just concerned about the welfare of her children with a well-founded and healthy fear of the metric system.

Is Rasho the only Jewish player in the NBA?
