All eyes will be on St Louis as eight players hope to prove that there’s no such thing as the ‘Home Run Derby Curse’. From the American League will be Nelson Cruz (22) of the Texas Rangers, Tampa’s Carlos Pena (24), Joe ‘Flirting with .400’ Mauer (15) from the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tiger Brandon Inge (21). Representing the National League is Milwaukee’s Prince Fielder (22), Padre Adrian Gonzalez (24), Ryan Howard (22) from the Philadelphia Phillies and home town hero and major league leader Albert Pujols (32). You have to believe Pujols is the odds on favourite to win. The man also leads the league in RBIs and is sixth in batting average. Triple Crown maybe?
Perhaps these guys should have spoken with Bobby Abreu or Alex Rios before they agreed to swat the long ball. There is an argument that Josh Hamilton hasn’t been the same since his coming out party at old Yankee Stadium.
Wilner says Halladay is better than Stieb, and then has Stieb on for an interview, HA HA
Better moustache: Steib or Brian Tallet?
