So yesterday we asked you whether or not Brian Burke should deal Tomas Kaberle. Today we are here to tell you that after the first day of voting, the results are a George W Bush dead heat. 91 votes in favor of dealing Kaberle and 67 against the Maple Leafs trading him. I still say that the fastest way for Burke to improve his forward corp is by trading Kaberle. If he can’t he can’t. The reality is, we learned he has next to no real tradeable assets save for Luke Schenn. He can’t trade draft picks. Top flight offensive players aren’t coming to the market as free agents as in the past. So, what’s a man to do?
The countdown is on until Saturday.

zherdev! bertuzzi! somebody….anybody….we need help up front. we have plenty of support on the backend….trade kaberle while his value is still high – we can survive without him, but we don’t have a chance of getting into the playoffs without some scoring punch.
Why does everyone think we need a major forward acquisition at this point? A) the playoffs shouldn’t be the goal this year, and B) the Leafs were 10th in scoring last year. An improved defensive corps along with better goaltending will hopefully bring down the goals against, leading to more wins. They lost Moore and Antropov from their forward ranks…surely they have players who can replace that production. If they don’t, the Leafs cupboard really is bare!
I’m with you Ed.I also think Kaberle would lift his NTC at the deadline if it seems the right thing to do for both parties.
