Toronto Sun Should Stick To Papers

Have you seen this?

The Toronto Sun has decided to get into the video game. Check out this stellar example of their excellent work.

Lance Hornby did actually reference GRANT Exelby right????

WOW- how lame! The story itself sucked. Grant Exelby????? WOW

Yes, yes I make mistakes all the time. I, however don’t get paid to do what I do. These guys do.

Hornby gets the names wrong during his radio appearances, also. I would think that when you represent a major media outlet, the idea would be to make that outlet appear both credible and intelligent at all times. It’s implicit in his radio appearance that he is representing/selling the organization he works for – something as simple as getting names wrong is often seen as a laissez-faire attitude toward research, which reflects badly on the organization that pays him to write about those very names. For the blogs this doesn’t apply as the understanding is that it is unpaid work by fans for fans … but media members, because they present themselves as experts in the field, are (and should rightfully be) held to a much higher standard.

Off topic – but Doug Maclean is advising Balsillie now? Weird! I seem to recall him hammering him pretty hard on his radio show.

Hey TSM, does this mean McClean isn’t going to be on The Fan anymore? I don’t see him on the website. Too bad, if that’s true. I really like ‘The Gameplan’. Jack and Doug were a good pairing I thought.
