Burke Pulls The Trigger (Minor )

Brian Burke pulled off a deal today, trading often up rarely excelling Jiri Tlusty to Carolina for 2009 first round pick Philippe Paradis who is still playing in the QMHL. I think it was only a matter of time before Tlusty got his walking papers. I guess Maurice liked him. 1 week to go until Burke’s deadline kicks in.

I know nothing about this Paradis kid but I can honestly say I won’t be missing Tlusty that much. Hard to say he wasn’t given some chances, he played over 70 NHL games (I know it’s not a full season but…). I don’t know, the guy never stood out for me. Streaky spots here and there where you’d notice him but then some games you wouldn’t even know his was in the line-up. I’m sure Burke and his scouts know something about this Paradis that they felt was worth swinging for. You could kind of tell time was running out for Tlusty.

Well, one less potential roster player for next year. I wonder how many more are coming…

On the face of it, looks like a good idea…take a 1st rounder that you don’t think will amount to much and re-try with a “newer” one. I’m not saying that I wouldn’t make the move – I just have this awful voice in the back of my head “Boyes, Boyes, Boyes”….Let’s hope giving up on this 1st rounder doesn’t come back to haunt us like Brad Boyes.

meh…i think if people at the trade deadline last year heard that you could get a 2009 first rounder for Tlusty they would take it. DOn’t know anything about the new guy, but it was clear he didn’t fit with BUrke/Wilson
