College of Sports Media Game of the Night:
It’s an all Canadian battle as the Calgary Flames get set to face the Ottawa Senators in our nation’s capital tonight. It’s been two weeks since the Flames sent three players to Toronto in exchange for four and a week since dealing a couple more to the New York Rangers. Since the traded with the blue shirts the Flames have registered points in three straight games and had a two game winning streak snapped on Saturday night in Tampa. Calgary was up, but eventually lost 2-1 in over time. Ottawa on the other hand has been the second hottest team in the league (sorry no one is better then the Washington Capitals right now). They had an eleven game winning streak going into their game with the Leafs on Saturday night. Their provincial rivals got the best of them blanking the Sens 5-0. Nonetheless Ottawa’s streak helped them get to second seed in the Northeast and they trail the Buffalo Sabres by only a point. Before the streak forward Jason Spezza’s season had been an embarrassment. He only had four goals and was far from earning his big money contract. During the streak Spezza scored eight goals and looks to be out of any slumps.
