Questions On The Jeff Jackson Issue?

Curious thoughts as the news that Jeff Jackson has moved on from the Maple Leafs. Jackson it has been reported wanted the opportunity to move up in the organization and obviously felt that things are crowded in Burke’s world. This is strange however isn’t it? Am I nuts or do I not remember someone already asking for permission to interview Nonis last season only to be denied? Hasn’t Brian Burke said that he almost expects Nonis to get the calls again this summer? I am pretty sure that when Poulin was hired one of the reasons given was that Burke was thinking that Nonis like Joe N. would get plucked sooner rather than later?

So, if one assumes that Nonis isn’t long for the world wouldn’t that allow Jackson to move up the ladder?????????

What is the question? Sounds like Burke did not want him on his mangement team.

Jackson was hired primarily as a “capologist”
clearly that’s where the Leafs feel his expertise begins and ends.Good luck to Jeff finding a more hands on NHL position. This is the type of story that surfaces when the team sucks and/or people are trying to stir up controversy due to the team sucking and thus a shortage of actual on ice material.

Jackson was hired as “capologist”.
Jackson wanted to move up in the organization.
Burke was honest with Jackson regarding his future with the Leafs.
Jackson leaves.

That’s about it. Though I must say the timing is odd. You’d think Jackson would close out the season.

With Jackson and Joe N’s departure, does Burke add anyone to the team? What is the likelihood that Nonis returns next year – I agree with those that believe he will get out from under Burke’s shadow….Calgary could use a GM that knows how to dump underperforming Leafs.

I think there was a classh between Burke/Jackson. Burke isnt the most pleasant man to be around at times and at times can be down right crusty.

Look at what happened when he was in Anahiem. He came in and fired Mike Babcock. Bowman scoops up Babcock and hes done quite well since.

Good luck Jeff, you deserve better.
