Toronto Sports Media Game of the Night

College of Sports Media Game of the Night:

Two games going down tonight in quest for Lord Stanley’s Cup. We’re going to focus our attention on the Windy City – where the Chicago Blackhawks were blown away by the Vancouver Canucks in game one of their second round battle. The Canucks came out strong and got much better play between the pipes en route to a 5-1 win. Roberto Luongo got off to a perfect start on his road to redemption for last season’s lose. He made 36 stops and more importantly controlled the puck without giving up the big rebounds. The same couldn’t be said of Antti Niemi. The Chicago goalie served up some juicy rebounds and the Canucks ate them up. Niemi will need to play a much better game tonight or he’ll become an observer for more then just the third period. Other then the goaltenders a lot of the focus for this series was on the top lines of these two teams. It’s hard not to talk about the Sedin twins for Van-City and Jonathan Toews or Patrick Kane for Chi-town. At the end of the game one it was all about Wellwood (Kyle), Grabner (Michael) and Raymond (Mason) for Vancouver. The third and fourth lines played a pivotal role in the game one win, accounting for three of the five Canucks goals. If the bit players continue to step up for the Canucks, they’ll go back home with a 2-0 lead in this second round series.
