College of Sports Media Game of the Night:
Win tonight and the Vancouver Canucks would force a game seven in their series with the Chicago Blackhawks. Lose and all that’s left is cleaning out their lockers. Things looked bleak for the Canucks going into game five. They’d given up a combined 12 goals over two games and needed a victory in the Windy City to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Canucks blue line was fantastic. They contributed all three goals and Vancouver cruised to a 3-1 win. Goaltender Roberto Luongo was equally as good. Luongo stopped 29 of 30 shots and more importantly he controlled his rebounds. Chicago had men in front of him, but he maintained his composure. Also for the first time in this postseason the Canucks did not allow a power play goal. You have to believe there wouldn’t be many changes to the Blackhawks game plan coming into this one. They have the confidence of taking both games in Vancouver earlier in the series and need only one win to end the series. Depending how things go tonight, Vancouver fans will either continue to twirl their white towels in delight or use them to wipe the tears from their eyes.
