College of Sports Media Game of the Night:
During the regular season all the talk in San Jose is about the mighty Sharks. Come playoff time, people spend more time talking about a different animal – the playoff-choking gorilla riding San Jose’s back. Coming into game three of the Western Conference Finals, San Jose has done nothing to quiet the chatter. The Sharks lost both games at home and go into Chicago looking to avoid being down 3-0 to the Blackhawks. In the prior two rounds it was the second line that carried the offensive load for San Jose. Joe Pavelski, Ryan Clowe and Devin Setoguchi combined fro 15 goals and 17 assists. In the first two games against Chicago they’ve yet to register a point. To make maters worse San Jose’s top line of Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau and Dany Heatley aren’t really producing either. Marleau has two goals and an assist, while Thornton and Heatley have a point each. If that trend continues perhaps dinosaurs should be added to the list of animals used in conversations about San Jose, because they’ll be extinct from the 2010 postseason.
