Toronto Sports Media Game of the Night

College of Sports Media Game of the Night:

Game three of the Stanley Cup finals goes tonight in Philadelphia as the hometown Flyers need a win or they’ll be in a 3-0 hole for the second time this postseason. Game one was a goal-fest that the Chicago Blackhawks eventually won 6-5. Game two Chicago scored two goals in 28 seconds and won the game 2-1. So it’s safe to say that tonight is a cliche for Philadelphia – a must win game (is there ever a must lose game?). In the second round of the playoffs the Flyers fell behind 3-0 in their series with the Boston Bruins. They needed overtime to win game four and then stringed together another three straight victories to become the third team in league history to comeback from a 3-0 hole. What are the chances they can do it a second time in the same extended season – not too good. Chicago’s goaltender Antti Niemi was great in game two. He stopped 32 of 33 shots, including some big ones at the end of the game. In battle of the goalie- unknowns Niemi has been more valuable to his team that his counter-part Michael Leighton. Leighton gave up five goals on only 20 shots and got pulled in game one. He bounced back in game two, but the second Chicago goal was one he should have had and ended up being the eventual game winner. He’ll need to be better or the series will end quicker then any Philly player would want. Also, what is up with Chris Pronger and his strange post game habits? For the second straight night he’s either working on his memorabilia collection or trying to send a message to Chicago.
