Helter skelter, with Toronto in a summer swelter Germany and Spain meet up in what would be a fantastic 2010 World Cup Final today at 2:30p.m. Too bad this is the semi-final.
Spain has yet to fulfill its promise at this tournament, entering as the reigning European champions and with only two losses since November 2008. One of those was a stunning 1-0 win by the upstart Swiss. Spain snuck past Paraguay 1-0 in the quarter-final to avoid a national embarassment.
Germany trounced England and Argentina by a combined score of 8-1 to earn their spot in this semi but they are first and foremost proponents of defensive play. Picture-perfect passes and precision are their calling card.
Spain can answer that doorbell in kind.
This looks to be one of those matches in which you should plan for overtime.
