Etobicoke homeboy and Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto will be starting tonight’s game in Philadelphia with an all-star smile on his face. His all-star break will be cut short with a gig at Angel Stadium on July 13th.
The Reds lead the National League’s Central division while the Phillies sit in the middle of the Eastern. That being said, the two squads are not that far apart.
Philly has lost their last two games but sports good at home stats – 21-17 – comparable to the Reds road record of 22-18.
Votto and the Reds will be on an emotional high, and coupled with starter Johnny Cueto’s .70 ERA over his last four starts they have the edge in this one.
