Commenters have occasionally complained that PTS has too many FOB (Friends of Bob) as guests, but this week with Blair as host we’ve heard from: Brunt, Grange, Deacon, Shulman, Olczyk, Rovell, Ashby, Armstrong, etc. No huge differences except an appearance by J.P.

It looks like 590 sure knows how to pick quality NFL analysts:

1) Ron Meyer used to appear each week on the morning show but they stopped having him on after he had some legal problems

2) Last year the guys on the Game Plan had Jeremy Green from ESPN on each week to talk football but I’m pretty sure that won’t happen again given that Green was charged today with possession of child pornography

I heard a bit of Jim Ralph hosting the Watters Show.

Watters sounded pretty dead tired from the cottage, nothing surprising there. He has no energy, I’m sure losing his partner and one of his shows has impacted him pretty heavily.

I hope 640 can turn him around, not because Wilbur has a lot left in the tank but I like having the two options at 4pm – although if they can’t find a better and younger host than the guys they’ve tried out since Brady’s departure, I’m not sure how many people are going to bother with it.

TSM – any idea when anything else gets annonuced for 590 or when Brady starts?

It’s true Jullian. Despite the terrible play of the Toronto sports teams, and that it’s a pretty much a low point for this city’s interest for sports in general, a city this size should have more than one option for sports talk.

I think we all figured 640 would go further in that direction, and maybe build on young and dynamic hosts like Brady.

But with the Fan snapping up Brady, and 640 seemingly leaning away from sports and farther into news/talk, it’s really hard to know what the future of the BWS is. There’s no heir apparent anymore, and does Bill really want to start buidling an audience and rapport all over again with a new host and new dynamic? Who knows.

If 640 moves away from sports, maybe it will take the resurgence of any of the Leafs/Jays/Raps (at least one of those teams has got to get good in a few years, right?) or the addition of an NFL or NHL franchise in a few years to push some company to start another sports option.

Everything I have read leads me to believe that Brady will start appearing on air at 590 in mid-August.

One of the things that Kollins said a couple of weeks ago was that 590 will be trying hard to get the Leafs radio rights the next time they become available…………if that ever happened it would really put 640 in limbo as far as their sports programming is concerned.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
