Friday’s Game of the Night is the San Francisco Giants (79-62) versus the San Diego Padres (79-62) in a series that may very well deiced the NL West. The Giants are 7-3 in their last ten games, while the Padres are 3-7 in that time. San Frans has the big left hander John Sanchez (10-8, 3.39 ERA) on the mound, Sanchez has really flourished this season. The 27 year old lowered his era from 4.24 in 2009 to 3.39 in 10, he also has managed to only allow 62 earned runs in 164 innings ( the most of his career). Sanchez is 2-5 in 10 starts against the Padres, he’s posted a 2.84 ERA in those outings.
Clayton Richard (12-6, 3.43 ERA) is the starter for the Padres. Richard is really coming into his own in San Diego since coming over from the White Sox last season. The Michigan graduate has thrown a career high in strike outs with 135 and innings pitched in 173. Richard has been much more effective at home, in 94 innings he’s 6-4 with a 2.85 ERA with 86 strikeouts. Batters are only hitting .231 against Richard at Petco.
Weekend look ahead….
Before we look at the NFL games on Sunday the possible “Bash at the Ashe” could be in the making in Federer handles his business against Novak Djokovic.
Sunday one o’clockers
Cleveland @ Tampa on CBS-Nobody is watching this game unless you have a relative on one of the teams.
Miami @ Buffalo on CBS- Expect Miami to dominate for all 60 minutes of this one.
Cincinnati @ New England on CBS- This game could very well come down to a field goal. A weak Pats secondary keeps Cincinnati in the game.
Carolina @ New York Giants on FOX-The Giants will run the ball on a Panthers defense that has seen better days.
Detroit @ Chicago on FOX-The Lions will be better this year, I mean they have to be….right?
Atlanta @ Pittsburgh on FOX- Good luck Dennis Dixon, Atlanta will be a tough squad all year. Might not make the playoffs but tough none the less.
Oakland @Tennessee on CBS- Oakland coming a cross country to play Tennessee at home, the Raiders will be better in 2010 but maybe not in this game.
Denver @ Jacksonville on CBS- Who’s more annoying Favre or Tebow? any chance we can get these two in a room and only one walks out.
Indianapolis @ Houston on CBS- Texans/Colts is always close. will this finally be the year Houston pulls it off.
