Game of the Night

Toronto Maple Leafs (2-0, 4 pts) vs Pittsburgh Penguins (1-2, 2 pts) @ CONSOL Energy Center on TSN, 7:30 PM ET

Reason to watch: With no baseball on tonight you can turn your full attention to that team that has broken your heart since the day you were born. The Leafs will make their first visit to the brand spanking new CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, where the Penguin’s are 0-2 and look to avoid use of the dreaded “C” (curse) word when it comes to their new digs. Everything I’ve heard about the CONSOL Center has been positive and that the arena is beautiful, and judging by the way Mario Lemieux dresses, the man has style ( or at least his wife does).

Leaf’s so far have done well with their summer acquisitions, Clarke MacArthur and Kris Veersteg has both had an immediate impact on the ice and dressing room. MacArthur’s play has really been impressive almost jelling immediately with line-mates Kulemin and Grabovski.

Toronto genuinely feels like a team that enjoys going to work everyday (in the small sample size we’ve seen thus far). With Jeff Finger being sent to the minors and 4.5 million in cap space the Leafs could continue to add to a roster that looks like one of the underrated squads in the league. Something to keep an eye on tonight is the Leafs are so far a perfect on the penalty kill, and are 4th in the league in goals per game and 5th in goals against.
