Game of the Night

Game 3

Texas Rangers VS New York Yankees @ Yankee Stadium on Sportsnet, 8:07 PM ET, Rangers lead series 2-1

Texas: RP Tommy Hunter (0-1, 4.50 ERA)

New York: RP A.J. Burnett (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Reason to watch: The Yankees have decided to start P Burnett over P C.C. Sabathia on short rest tonight. Burnett was 10-15 with a 5.26 ERA in 33 starts this season, the former Blue Jay was 1-0 with a 2.50 ERA in three starts versus Texas in 2010. The 33 year old was 1-1 with 5.27 ERA in five postseason starts for the Yankees last year in the playoffs.

Burnett’s 5.26 ERA makes him the third highest ERA for a Yankee pitcher who started a postseason game. Denny Neagle made three postseason starts in 2000, a year in which he has a 5.81 ERA is the highest.

2B Robinson Cano continues to be the lone bright spot in the Yanks line up, batting .417 in the ALCS with two home runs and three RBIs. New York will need A-Rod to step up and deliver if the Yankees are going to avoid going down 3-1.  A-Rod is hitting a measly .154 so far against the Rangers.

Texas better be as happy as a pig in shit right now. After the devastating game one loss, the Rangers looked like they were sinking faster then President Barak Obama’s approval ratings. Even Former Ex-Owner and President George W. Bush had a look on his face that said “ I’ve seen when good goes bad before, and this is it”.

P Tommy Hunter is making his second career playoff start, Hunter in four innings versus the Rays struck out seven, walking none, giving up six hits and two earned runs. Hunter in one start versus the Yankees in 2010 has a 3.60 ERA in five innings with eight strike outs and three walks.

CF Josh Hamilton continues his MVP campaign and owning anything called Yankee Stadium. Hamilton is batting .300 with two home runs and five RBIs in the ALCS so far. Not bad after the AL’s leader in batting average was held to a .111 with one RBI in the ALDS versus Tampa.

Another player to watch is Rangers SS Elvis Andurs, Andurs is hitting .333 so far thru out the postseason with two RBIs and five stolen bases. Him and 2B Ian Kinsler provide a solid middle infield that has great range.
