Toronto Raptors (1-2, 0-1 away) vs Utah Jazz (1-2, 0-1 home) @ EnergySolutions Arena on Sportsnet One, 9:00 PM ET
Line: JAZZ by 10.5
Reason to Watch: If you have watched the NBA for the last ten years, then you know there are almost two certains in the League, one is Kobe is the best player and two, the Utah Jazz winning at home. The Jazz, since 1996 are 318- 278 in Utah, and 52-36 in the last three season at home.
While last years Raptors squad might have at least covered the spread versus the Jazz, but it’s probably way to early in the season for this group to pull off this type of upset. The Raptors are on the second game of a four game West Coast trip. While going on an early road trip can benefit chemistry, losing games like Monday’s in Sacramento when the Raps lead by as much as 16 points, will crush a team confidence.
The Jazz will try for their 11th straight win over the Raps. Utah has won five in a row and is 11-3 against Toronto at home, while all star Deron Williams has never lost to them in 10 career games.
Andrea Bargnani scored 28 points on Monday, but will have a much tougher game against Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap. Both players are going to be extremely physical with Bargnani and we’ll see if Bargnani can play tough and continue driving the basket or settle or jumpers (A la Chris Bosh) when things get to tough on him.
DeMar DeRozen is continuing to show that his Summer was no joke, DeRozan tied his career high with 24 pts, and a one dunk that I’m proud to have as my screensaver.
Jazz win big.
