I wonder if we’ve seen the last of John Shannon on PTS?

Cox is the cohost this week, and Brunt said he’d be on next week.

If that’s the case then Hallelujah!

I think Cox will do quite well as Bob’s co-host though it might take him a while to adjust as they went really long on the Olczyk segment which really shortchanged Milos Raonic.

Anything would be better than the blowhard Shannon, he can take his stupid ‘wave’ and hit the road, hopefully he is fired from Hockey Central next!!

Getting Damien back was the only smart move the PD has made. He should dump Stephen Brunt asap. They guy st-st-st-we-we-we-stammers his words more than Bill Hayes ever did.

Tom, you can’t be serious. If you are, then you are likely in a minority of one. I am not sure if you wrote that to push some buttons or not, but regardless, it was written in very poor taste.

Tom I think you are one very confused person, as there is no way you could be saying that about the brunt we all listen to and enjoy.

I seriously would make sure you aren’t thinking of
shannon… Brunt is extremely well spoken and intelligent, as well as being very knowledgeable over a wide range of subjects.

Shannon is the one who stutters occassionally. He does provide value in that he is an example of the NHL insider code mentality, albeit he is often such a wicker man that Bob isn’t forced to be on top of his game.

You are also rather uninformed as brunt was just recently locked up long term prior to cox…they are the two alternating cohosts from now on obviously.

Amazing move to shore up PTS and take away the only major complaint. Cox is right there with Brunt, Brady, and Arthur as my current top radio guys. Entertaining and witty for the most part, as
well as diverse knowledge and contacts.

If anything Brady would be at the bottom for eloquence, vocabulary, intelligence and wit. He is great just not a match in these areas.

However regardless of actual knowledge Bobcat will always be the best sports radio host. He doesn’t purport to be an analyst and I’m glad he isn’t one. Voice, rhythm etc make him an unparalleled master of the medium; the best guests every time and the best interviewer, I could go on…

But personally i put brunt right there in the 2nd tier. Guys are great on air especially for insight and analysis but just don’t have the pure mastery of radio broadcasting that Bobcat has.

Funny though now that I think about it, Brady is the one who I could see Maybe in a Long time being close to that sort of host. He would have to mature, reduce focus on nitty gritty details and go big pic, develop guest roster, less ADD.

But he would definitely put his own spin on the formula. Mor

I think Tom is referring to the way that Brunt often starts over a few times on radio when he asks a question in an interview……….it’s almost like his mind is trying to think of the best way to ask the question even though his mouth has already started asking it

It is definitely noticeable but in my opinion it is a minor issue……….the intelligence and insight that Brunt brings to PTS more than makes up for anything like that………..when he and McCown are on their game there is nobody better, in this city anyway
