Brunt wrote a good article about this whole topic, but I am suspicious of why he made no mention of the Goddard aspect. I recognize we are all interested in the media angle to the story (thus the name TSM), but I feel Brunt kind of missed a big part of the story for not also calling out his “colleague” in the media. Please tell me his current gig at Sportsnet isn’t influencing his ability to have complete objectivity.

If you read Brunt’s newspaper column, you’ll note that the editors of the paper added the Rogers firing as a breaking story. My guess is that his original story was written before the second part (re: Rogers) came about.

I recognize the firing had not yet occurred, but Goddards comments were already out there at the time he wrote the story. Just seems it would have made sense to include discussion given he was discussing Players, Agents, why not add the media perspective to what was a well rounded story. I still really enjoy Brunt’s work, I just don’t like to see what appears to be the media protecting their own while being forthright with everyone else.

Anothr very smart article by Brunt

I am not sure but I don’t think Brunt was shying away from Goddard situation (even though I can understand why Gerry thinks that from reading this) He did bring it up with McCown (even though not by name) when he was a phone guest on the day Goddard got fired and during the call they both found out he was indeed let go, Brunt talked about it pretty openly afterwards in that same segment.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
