My God, that Friday roundtable was painful. It sounded like a bunch of drunks on a cottage deck. Everyone stepping all over each other……alll talking nonsense. Bobact…..hurry back!

I didn’t hate it as much as you, but I definitely understand where you are coming from. The roundtable consist of Blair hosting with Damo, Stellick and Shannon (Grange wasn’t there) and at times Damo & Gord were just goofing on each other (which at times is fun) I don’t think the problem was the host, I thought the problem was more that all the panelists were “hockey first” guys who mostly were goofing or rushing through or giving it a “hockey spin” on the non-hockey topics of the first hour of the round table (second hour of show)

Of course the topic I was waiting for was the post hockey street activities lol. It was really disapointing, it was a great topic with a lot of layers and possible direction. From was this a results from “the hockey culture” to the reaction of people after it happened (and the blame game) to something I just thought of should the sports media be covering that live while they were there (which I don’t think none of them did) There’s a lot of stuff they could have gone, but they didn’t do much with it.

I will give believe it or not Shannon props, he’s the guy who “brought it” more than anybody on the topic, I have to say i was fully expecting a “hockey fans had nothing to do with it” from him. But he actually had much more of my way of thinking of “Few troublemakers came out, but then the pack mentality fueled by booze escalated it” I can buy that. Also brought up if we can do those outdoor viewing party again because of it.

I was really looking forward to this roundtable, but it didn’t really measure upl. Surprised that Damo or Blair wasn’t more aggressive on it, it was probably in need of a Brunt or Grange in there who could maybe have sturred the pot a bit more, and not have either Stellick or Shannon. Got a lot more on the topic I thought was most interesting from Brady in the morning show, Arthur articles (that was put up on here a day or so back) or Feschuk on TSNR C&C show.

I also thought it was a painful listen on friday and I would blame the lack of a “host”. All four of those guys have hosted in the past and I think maybe Blair didn’t want to step on toes. Regarding the aftermath of game 7, anybody who did not see that coming wasn’t paying attention. When they showed the crowds pre game and during the game, upwards of 100 000 people, who didn’t see trouble? Win or loose it was doomed from the start. Vancouver dropped the ball buy fascilitating it by showing the game in public on large screens.

With respect to what Lagerandale wrote, I read a comment this week that said to the effect of “there is no right way for police to handle a riot.”

Many people (including me) don’t listen to McCown to hear what he thinks about the hockey playoffs so I don’t think it was odd that he was on vacation for the last two weeks.

On the other hand, Wilbur is supposed to be 640’s hockey “expert”………..but on the day after the biggest hockey game of the year (and the subsequent riots) he was nowhere to be found on his own afternoon show…………he probably planned his vacation not knowing that the Cup would go to 7 games………..as far as I know they did not even talk to him on the phone to get his observations……………that is the least they could have done
