So I just came back to Burlington from a week in the Peg and some lakes in the surrounding area. It is really neat to see the Jets fever that town has. I will be very curious to watch how the media coverage plays out on this team. Obviously the local papers haven’t had a whole lot of major league sports to cover, thus much of the coverage has been matching of the leagues the teams play in. Most of the high quality talent the city had during earlier Jet’s regime has either moved on to bigger things or retired. Will be a unique opportunity for some young sports media to cover an NHL team and get some big league opportunities.

The new logo I think will end up being very good. I was initially put off a bit by it, perhaps because I am a tradionalist and liked the old logo. Given this is not the same Jets franchise, it is important they have a new logo. Given the location of where I was staying in Wpg. I drove past the old CFRB base in Wpg. multiple times and was near the aiport alot. There is also the Shiloh base still in Manitoba. The armed forces have played a huge role in Wpg for decades. THere is also still a Bristol Aerospace employing alot of people in the city.

Sorry if I have rambled a bit about Wpg given the nature of this site, but I really hope this team finds success. Even my mother and one of my brothers who never watch sports are excited by the return of the team. Many of my nephews and other mid 20’s guys in Wpg have split season tix between them. The barn there will be very noisy and very exciting for the players compared to what they had in Atlanta.
