PTS today..Is advertisers paying the fan/590 today??
Or, is fan/590 paying the advertisers ??
Form your own opinion..
Til 5:40 its not bad! I could think of much worse host/co-host pairings in the not too distant past.
While Ashby is employed by Rogers he’s not exactly a sycophant for the company and actually has his own opinions about the team. Now if it was Jerry Howarth…..I love the guy but he’s as blinded by homerism when not calling a guy as anyone i’ve heard.
Heard Jonas Siegel on 1050 tonight – yikes! Talk about ‘boom goes the dynamite’….awful
I’ve not listened to PTS or the Fan for more than 5 minutes in the last 3 weeks, oddly enough life went on just fine with CBC, 680 and Sirius…
Tom,
I agree 100%. Siegel must have relatives in high places. How else can you explain he has a job with his brutal delivery?
Believe it or not, but he was actually much worse a year ago on 640. Good to know he’s actually improving.
What are your opinions on Shoalts as a cohost? Compared to Grange, I would take Shoalts any day of the week. Don’t get me wrong, I think both are bench players at best but atleast Shoalts will chime in with an opinion every once in awhile that makes sense. I find Grange is quiet throughtout most interviews and when the mike is passed to him he sutters and humms and hahs through an inane question and the whole interview comes to a shuddering halt.
i agree with Sloan 100% on Grange. I’ve never quite understood how/when/why the Globe decides to upgrade single sports reporters to columnists. Blair was a puzzler. Grange was even more of a head scratcher — the Raptors are way behind the other sports in terms of popularity so making a basketball guy a general sports guy seemed like an odd choice. Sportsnet is now trying to sell him as a Jays analyst.
Grange just freezes up way too much to perform the role he has been assigned. He might get better in terms of delivery, but the insight just isn’t there. I recently heard him ask Brett Laurie if he hoped to become a Gold Glove calibre defender. What the fuck kind of question is that?
Good guy (by all indicators), but not well-suited for the job of general sports radio host.
