It was, seemed a little staged to me, like they didn’t know how to get to the Belak thing and used the twitter thing to get there. Interesting to hear Cox admit he was wrong getting into it with the dude. He talked like he was above McCormick, and I think he is, but he came down to his level. As far as the Belak thing, maybe I’m wrong but did Stock not say just that it wasn’t suicide? Well he appears to be correct and I don’t blame him at all for not going further even if he knew. Some things are better left unsaid. That’s where I think Cox was wrong.

interesting to see TSN’s Leafs pre-game line-up from 6-7.

Hopefully this means they won’t feel the need to lard up the rest of their shows with Leafs talking heads. How many times a day can Jonas Siegel be a guest?

I agree – very good discussion with Bob and Damien. I really like Damien when he is on topic and focused. Bob mentioned a few times that ‘suicide’ may come across better than something ‘more embarrassing’ which I can only assume he meant in a Michael Hutchence/David Carradine, as the Toronto Sun website first reported he hanged himself. Either way, very sad.

Tom, I concur – keep Damien focused on topic it’s enjoyable. It was an interesting discussion.

Mike, you can hope it means that less lard on TSN, but I suspect not.

I may be alone on this, but it’s freakin’ pre-season, do you really a hour-long pre-game show. Multiple games on all channels. Until the puck drops on Oct 6, who cares?

Happy that hockey season is around the corner, but that corner is still 2 weeks down the road.

Interesting subtle reference to the CFL – Lysko lawsuit. Cox and McCown said their defamation lawsuit is settled. Anyone know about this?

If you guys liked the 1050 hour long pre-game show for a pre-season game then you must have really loved the never-ending game updates during the 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM show……………..it included detailed analysis and appearances from Jolly Jonas during the intermissions……………since the Leafs haven’t played at all in almost 6 months I guess 1050 thinks Leaf fans need their fix

Boys, we all know that there is an almost inexhaustable appetite for Leafs coverage in this town, irrespective of the quality of the team, so expect BUCKETS O’ LARD, no less of it.

Now that we have a team with 2 sports stations looking for an audience, once hockey gets going full speed, even the addicted Leafs fan will be able to find a fix.

I’m sorry, but Cox came off as a completely disgusting pig yesterday and that discussion brought out every reason why nobody should trust the media as far as they can throw them. The media KNOWS the details surrounding Belak’s death, and not only are they arbitrarily censoring it because they feel like they need to protect the guy, they’re a) talking about it in a roundabout way anyway and b), they’re using Belak as a martyr for a cause that likely had little or nothing to with this specific incident (depression, fighting, concussions, etc.).

Belak’s death was nothing like the passings of Boogaard and Rypien, yet Cox thought it was necessary to link the three to suit his agenda anyway. That’s ****ing scummy. Even if they were linked, I could surmise that drugs could’ve been the stronger link, and drugs are a problem that is VERY prevalent in not only the NHL, but freakin junior hockey as well, but nobody wants to talk about it because the media mafia can’t bear to make our hockey heroes look back. And so, it comes full circle as to why the real details of Belak’s death have yet to be published.

Tyler Bozak for Kyle Turris (as per D. Cox) would be win win for The Leafs…..
