Sportsnet 590 The Fan….that’s quite a mouthful.

I wonder what they are going to do with all of the “Sportsnet Radio The FAN 590” merchandise they made the last time they changed the name of the station, which seems like it was only a few months ago……………..I guess they can send it to the same place as the “Boston Red Sox 2011 World Series Champions” merchandise

Pretty sure they’re positioning the Sportsnet brand and eventually drop “The Fan” from the name. It could eventually be branded as Sportsnet 590 or Sportsnet Radio. “The Fan” doesn’t fit with any of their other properties.

but I would agree that they’ll probably move to just Sportsnet Radio.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned here, but I see that TSN Radio has finally expanded to Montreal and Winnipeg, effective tomorrow I think.

When TechTV was being phased out after being bought, they did the same thing with the name. First they just bought the company, then they combined the two names they wanted to combine, then they changed the logo of the old network, then they flipped the words around, before finally killing any remnant of the old network. I expect Sportsnet Radio 590 to be the only name within 12 months.

CAPN2PATCH : “The Fan” doesn’t fit with any of their other properties.

isn’t the new slogan “fueled by fans”?

ALEX :If only TSN Radio would podcast.

they do, albeit you have to download every show they broadcast. they need to offer show by show podcasts though. i have to spend a few minutes every week deleting Mike Richards, most of C-Balls, as well as the Argos weekend coverage.

I tried listening to McCown and his house boy Cox yesterday around 5. – it was un-listenable. They sound like two teenage girls switching from topic to topic with no insight or purpose.

As for Brunt, he’s no better. He’s a decent enough writer but as a radio c-host, he’s a decent enough writer……

I lose count of the times he says “there ya go” in an hour but trust me, its way too frequent.

Roger, you have no idea just how good you have it in Toronto – sure, the host chat can be a little light at times, but the strength of the guests more than makes up for it. You want some really bad sports radio? The Team 1200 in Ottawa – flat out awful. Thank goodness for Podcasts.
