Another Friend of Bob has defected to the enemy………….this time it’s Brian Cooper………….apparently he will be a regular guest on Cybulski’s show talking about the business of sports
I wonder if this will mean Bob actually defects himself….He’s still working on a new contract right?
Can he take Shannon and Kirke with him? None of these guys add much anyways.
The coop has flown the coop…
@Chris F – Bob mentioned again today he did not have a new deal in place. What is TSN waiting for? We all know he only cares about the $$$$$.
Nice to get a bonus day of Brunt. I enjoyed the talk about The National.
Bob said last Thursday that he had an announcement on Dec 31…
assuming that he wasn’t just joking w/ Brunt (does he even work the weel after Christmas? so far I have not heard him doing so), would that be his contract? XD

I’m pretty sure that a lot of that is part of his act/persona xD Unless TSN is going to give him a significant raise, the money will prolly be comparable, and I think, like most people and vampires, he would rather stay w/ a station he wouldn’t worry might vanish at some point, and in a situation he’s comfortable with and knows.
Also didn’t our gracious host alrdy Brunt that Bob had his deal essentially done? :3
@Mike S was Brian Cooper working for Rogers or the FAN590? o: Ppl having friends who work elsewhere isn’t rly a defection… presumably Bob doesn’t hate Arthur now… or doesn’t socialize w/ nebody who works at TSN…
His announcement could be that he is staying.at the Fan.
If anyone ever doubted that McCown visits this site from time to time, here is what he posted on Twitter this morning:
“Here’s the thing…no one is on the show because they are my friend. And no one is my friend because they are on the show”
Okay the second part I can buy into. But the first part, Come on! There are obvious guys whose friendships with McCown has an influence on how often they are on the show. Which in and of itself isn’t crazy, many hosts give friends a platform.
Here’s the other point. If you are a FOB, you get a gentle ride from him. Easy questions and giggling.
Plus have you noticed how he is readily prepared to wave his no cell phones for interviews when he is interviewing his buds like Gillick last nite?
Others he hangs up on.
hi Bob! good segments with Daly last week.
Brian Cooper was one of those people who all of a sudden started showing up on roundtables, or was a guest to talk about business issues. As far as i could tell his credentials were that he was some kind of fund-raiser. He had no local profile whatsoever yet he was a regular guy on PTS. Classic FOB. I guess he’s now turned his PTS appearances in to a gig at TSN. Good for him.
Kirke is probably the best FOB example though: vanilla opinions, has some sort of financial interest in most of the local teams, Bob’s agent, regular roundtable guest. Would Kirke be a guest on any other radio show in the country? Unlikely.
Cooper used to the produce The Business of Sport hosted by McCown. He was useless as a guest on PTS. Good riddance.
