Bruce weighs in on his favourite hockey talking heads, with some nice and goodly things to say about Shannon:

John Shannon: Honestly, didn’t think this was going to work when the former HNIC/NHL employee signed on at Sportsnet. But Shannon has evolved into the sober, non-shouting one at Sportsnet. His Wayne Gretzky to potential Toronto ownership scoop this week shows he still has plenty of connections. Seems to have found glasses that work on-camera. Not likely to go for the chin tuck, however.

i’m among Shannon’s critics as a radio personality but i don’t watch hockey panel shows on TV. Do people find him tolerable on the TV side?

I don’t mind him. Based on his role as the TV guy at the NHL offices, I think he has a different set of “sources” than Kipper et al. He brings a different perspective.

I have more problems with Bruce to be honest. I read his column because it is so often like the reverse of my world. If I think something is great, he trashes it. If I think a broadcast was poorly done, Bruce will champion it. It’s strange
