James Reimer may soon return from his “concussion-like” symptoms according to reports today. Do all players suffer from “concussion-like” symptoms when they have “upper-body” injuries? Perhaps “Wilsie” or “Burkie” at Big Blue HQ can address that somewhere down the road.

I saw someone wrote about this Jeff Marek podcast the other day… I wasn’t sure what it was so I just checked it out.

I’m not a big enough hockey fan myself to really listen much to this, but I think the idea that Sportsnet is throwing some weight behind podcast content is pretty cool and cutting edge actually.

I just think the convenience of listening to podcasts vs over the air is staggering. I pick and choose to only download the shows I want, skip segments I’m not interested in, and listen any time I like. To me now, it’s too the point that I don’t care if the show is broadcast on the over air signal or not. I also don’t care nearly as much if there’s a show on The Fan I don’t like – I’m rarely listening to the frequency on a radio anyway. I just don’t download it.

As their popularity rises, I bet we’ll see a quick rise of web-only alternatives on TSN and Sportsnet. That’s a good thing for us. For one – without having to have as broad an appeal, these shows tend to be a bit more indepth. I download a couple of pretty nerdy baseball podcasts that would never fly over the air (I’d think).

I think it’s possible that they day may arrive soon when all shows more identify themselves more with their websites rather than frequencies as we go farther down this road.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
