Bruce Arthur’s comments just now on Tim Thomas’ actions today were really funny and spot on.

Looks like Boston is perfect place for Tim Thomas to play.

I don’t think it’s fair to start assuming what Tim Thomas’ specific problems with the government is. I mean it could be that he’s against SOPA/PIPA and the US gov being able to arrest whoever it wants on foreign soil without trial, or he thinks gay marriage and abortion are examples of government forcing an agenda on the people (yes you can see exactly where my biases are in that statement xD ). My point is that assuming he’s a survivalist or tea partier just from his statement is unfair. He was invited to something, he declined. Now if he said it was because he believed Obama was born in Kenya and is an Al Qaeda sleeper agent, that would be something, but his words were really vague, and on purely it’s surface, I might agree with him, or I might not, depending on the specifics behind them. But we shouldn’t assume.

Honestly, I wonder if Bush was still president, would the same people assuming he’s a tea partier be assuming that he was against the government because of it’s draconian laws (many of which still exist, and more problematic laws being passed or trying to by the Obama government) and be cheering him on?

The TSN article said that he’s said he agrees with Glenn Beck in the past, and if that’s true, maybe he DID refuse to go because he thinks Obama is some communist Muslim sleeper agent, and maybe he does think socialized healthcare and gay marriage will lead to the end of America, or maybe he thinks the government is way overreaching in their ability to violate the civil rights of its citizens and trying to police the internet. The point is… we don’t know… and why is everybody assuming he’s arming his AK-47 in his underground bunker right now?

Theres an article on the csn ne website discussing some of thomas’ past statements, including his disagreement with andrew ference’s recycling program and he thinks that the green movement and global warning are hoaxes.

Asi wrote elsewhere today, i do think that both the left and right would react differently if a liberal player skipped out on a republican pres. According to that same article, theo epstein skipped going to the white house the two times the red sox went when gwb was president.

One of my friends dismissed the whole thing by saying “goalies,”

That’s the narrative I’d prefer too xD

As soon as I saw the words “Glenn Beck”, I knew all I needed to know.

Just to get some prospective on things:

Team Partiers = people with jobs, taxpayers, tend to be libertarian, don’t want govt interference and protest peacefully on the weekend

Occupiers = unemployed, 30 yr old “graduate” students, wants govt interference, wants hand-outs, doesn’t want to wake up too early for work, and worst of all protests violently on weekdays blocking hard working people from getting to their jobs

Oops! I meant “Tea partiers”
