Ouch listen to BOB lash out over the negative comments lately. What a baby,”get out of your mom’s basement, get off the inter net get alifeand then has to share with us the his grandious home theatre, what a joke he is as i care, you parlayed mediocre talent into agreat career but now with the heat turned up over the poor performance of the show lately he has to lash out like a baby in your word “what a marroon”.Shannon let him rant on then he rambled about the leaf goaltending if that had anything to do with anything.

When shannon said he had never had a bad day, i had to email amd say, “you obviously didnt listen to fridays roundtable.”

Um, it’s fine if you think he has a bad show now and then, but “mediocre talent”?
Come on.

February 6, 2012 6:47 pm

” bad show now and then”
This seems more like the norm lately, he is a lazy pant load who is on cruise from now till he quits. I find it laughable when he even tries to comment on any sporting event since we all know that he watches as little as he possibly can.

I guess it’s all subjective. Gimme Bob any time over pantloads like Brady and Lang.
Bob’s biggest problem is he gets too distracted by his co-hosts and forgets he has an audience listening. Too much chummy talk.

Very true, very true. Maybe that’s why Grange is knowhere to be found on radio anymore, he actually challenged Bob with different opinions, Bob don’t like that at all!

I posted a while ago about Grange and his ability not to get sucked into BOB world,he is smart a good writer and has an opinion,oh yeah dose’t cow tow to BOB.Haven’t seen him on PTS for a few weeks now hmm i wonder, nothing wrong with mediocre if you can parlay it into success,i think that is what he has done, also you do owe listeners be prepared on your game a pro.I’m a Stern fan because his fans are given his best day after day for 30yrs now.BOB is just a bloated windbag whose better days are in the rearview mirror also the camera is not kind to him.Time for him to retire to his dream theatre room and let someone with prep. and passion to take over.Who is that person don’t have a clue, don’t get payed to come up with the answer…

They would be smart to bring Grange back on a more semi regular basis. I’m guessing nobody else is available so they just wanna shove John Shannon and Damien Cox in our faces. They do miss Bruce Arthur tho that is for sure he and Bob were a good co hosting tandem. Heres a question even tho I’m NOT a fan of Steve Simmons would he be more listenable with Bob then say Damien Cox or John Shannon? or the same ?

I’d have to see Simmons in that element but my guess is he would be right up there with Magoo.

I know the name of the site is, but really it’s a Fan 590 lovefest here. That’s fine. But if it’s going to be sports media, shouldn’t TV be mentioned. Why not start posting who’s on Off The Record, or what the Top 10 lists on TSN and Sportsnet will be. How about comments on some of the TV hosts. For example, I think Evanka Osmak has gotten a lot better. As a matter of fact, for my money she’s much better than Hazel Mae or Jennifer Hedger. Or how about the hockey hosts. Duthie is the best, then McLean, and way back is Millard. But down the road, Friedman may be the best.

I can only speak for myself, but as someone jn the us, i dont see canadian tv. I only listen to blair, prime time, the soccer show, some sid and tim, and now thats its finally on itunes, cybulski.

And after last friday, i dont know if id call the blog “a 590 lovefest.”

If somebody who reads twitter has no life, what does that make Bob? o_O

People might be complaining about thing on Twitter, but apparently Bob is spending his time reading all their feeds….

the “you have no life, therefore I’m right” argument is a really really terrible Troll 101 argument -_-

I could do without Bob and Rovell trying to prove which one of them is the most hetero guy on the show also. :\

I love Bob, but sometimes when he goes into the “men do XYZ” or “real men don’t ZXY” stuff it’s just so… well, meaningless. There’s no one way that men act or women act, and Bob should know this as a guy who hates violence in hockey, finds UFC distasteful, doesn’t drink and enjoys reciting Winnie the Pooh! My favourite things about Bob is how he is so confident in himself despite stuff that can be considered “feminine” so when he gets into male insecurity mode it makes me sad 🙁

February 7, 2012 4:00 am

I wonder if bob is reading the tweets or getting a summary from his producers.

At least there was no talk about ugg boots.

Over on the other statipn, arthur talked about he was “gently nudged” out of the way by gisele after the super bowl so she could console tom terrific.

February 7, 2012 4:39 am

forgot to mention earlier, but the marty howe segment was worth a listen, talking about gordie’s mental health issues.

@Alex talking about that, this was one of the first times that PTS turned me off (because I didn’t want to hear about Bob talking about how women are like this and men are like that) and I turned to TSN, and they were talking about the Oilers and that was a lot easier to listen to because it’s straight sports analysis and I actually enjoyed it, and I stayed on TSN for longer than I realized.

hi Bob – we know you read the comments here. I have one question for you: what is your source for critical and constructive feedback currently? It’s not from your co-hosts, since their supporting roles are well-defined. It’s not from your bosses, since you’re in a position to hold their feet to the fire. It’s not from the newspaper media critics, since they either don’t exist anymore or they work for your station. You’ve categorically dismissed the segment of your audience who comments on your show as people with “no life” (whatever that means).

So, it appears that the sole person qualified to answer the question “was that a good show/interview/segment/discussion/argument” is you. That’s the kind of hubris and lack of accountability you constantly criticize in others.

February 7, 2012 9:30 am

I’ve listened to Bob for over 30 years. I’ve put up with his at-times mediocre performances simply due to the fact there isn’t any one out there as good. However, he needs to not take criticism so immaturely and accept his short comings.

He also needs to reduce the personal talk and kibitzing with his buds like Kypreos. I realize he married a Greek girl but does that mean there has to be a love-in with NK every time he’s on? What’s going to happen when his marriage ends (I think he’s on number 4)? Is he still going to be chummy with his Greek bud, Nick?

Aren’t people who have “no life” the segment companies want to target neways? o_O Because having “no life” except listening, caring, buying, consuming a certain product (like a TV show, comics, video games, sports radio talk shows, sports, etc) is the people you want to appeal to right? xD

February 7, 2012 7:36 pm

As someone who has studied or worked in various forms of popular culture media (publ ishing and retail), few people have as much disposable income as nerds. The comics industry is kept afloat by nerds in their 30s and 40s (guys like me) buying their superhero funny books, usually ignoring the alternative and manga market made of young people, many of whom are ladies (like ami).

I think sports talk is one of few areas were 25/54 m is more desirable than 18/34 m due to income streams.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
