the Bruins have issued a statement about the Twitter racism incident. I’m glad to see the NHL followed suit, but disappointed that this does not appear anywhere on the front page of the NHL’s website (that i can find). There is simply no place for those kinds of comments, and the NHL needs to take the lead on this. A video statement from prominent NHL stars and executives condemning racism would go a long way.

Did Bob ever actually introduce Millard in the first segment? I kept waiting but never heard it. (Admittedly, was eating lunch and might have been distracted)

Listening to the podcast now Alex… 3 minutes into the “interview” (it’s more of just a casual discussion), Bob still hasn’t mentioned Millard’s name.

Cybulski’s interview with Joel Ward demonstrates that athletes can give a great interview. I’m just sorry I missed the PTS drama of whether or not Bob introduced Darren.

To people who don’t know it’s Millard, they just know a random guy who is friendly with Bob came in and they started doing small talk.

6 minutes in… still nothing… discussions have gone from houses to golf… 8 minutes… still no mention that this is Darren Millard. xD Now they are talking about Battle of the Blades and Canada’s Got Talent…

10 minutes… talking about helicopters now…

12 minutes… airplanes and helicopters

14 minutes… finally hockey, still no mention of who his guest is

16 minutes… Roberto Luongo to the Leafs

18 minutes… discussion about Bob and whether he cares to educate himself on topics

20 minutes… discussion about bankrupt hockey teams

22 minutes… the types of people who buy hockey teams, now Bob tells mystery person he has to go

23 minutes… discussion of carpets

Bob announces Doug Smith is next… no mention of who’s leaving… xD

“Interview” over.

TSN radio’s coverage of the NFL draft is very good. Jim Tati is good as usual and Chris Schultz is unique in giving info on the cerebral and physical aspects of the game. When TSN listens in on ESPN radio, I’m surprised how good the interviews with the draft picks are. The players are relaxed, funny and not clichéd.

To be fair, Millard did mention the “Hockey Central at Noon” show at several points, so I didn’t find it too hard to figure out who it was. I actually enjoyed it a bit – but, then again, I’m the kind of person who can’t stand it when they keep repeating the station’s call letters ad nauseam – it’s as if they suppose that I can’t figure out that I am listening to 590 from the numbers 590 that appear on my car radio.

I presume its also not hard if youre watching on tv.

I admit some of the radio voices are similar to my ear. I still can get confused when kypreos is on with sid and tim, since tim and nick sound very alike to this american era.

I also used to get brunt and arthur mixed up, when i started listening to 590.

There’s a whole bunch of guys on FAN590 I have trouble telling apart. xD I think just cuz I tell a lot of voices apart by personality, and a few of them seem to have none for me. Jim Lang and Darren Millard confuse me for some reason. Friedman and Marek sounded similar to me for a while too and just tuning into the roundtable if one was on, it wasn’t clear to me who the 4th voice was until they said who was on the roundtable. Now, I can tell Friedman’s voice on it’s own, but I still can’t recognize Marek. I wouldn’t have known Millard was Millard without the hockey central reference (because both McLean and Kypreos are very distinct, so by process of elimination I’d get his voice) xD

Off sports, John Downs and Ryan Doyle on Newstalk 1010 sound almost alike to me! When they used to have shows opposite each other (640 and 1010) I used to laugh about how it sounded like the same person was on at the same time, but once they got a show together my brain exploded and it always sounded like Downs was arguing with himself to me xD

Thank god Millard, Dreger, Toth no longer work together they all sound the same and have the same look. When SN first started as a network i remember sitting their thinking WTF did they hire triplets Lol

” I also used to get brunt and arthur mixed up, when i started listening to 590.”

That’s because they’re both socialist weenies.
