Warning:footy talk for you soccer haters.

Declan could be on every week, like rosenthal and healy, and id be happy. Such a story waiting to explode about international match fixing in a number of sports, not just futbol.

    A question!

You are the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs! You have the First Pick in the upcoming draft! There are two 18 year old players available, Bobby Orr & Nick Lidstrom! Now the night before the Draft, the ghost of Don Cherry floats over your bed and pharts Angel Dust (not Ami ), and you see both their careers unfold before you. The next day, who do you pick?

  • comment-avatar

Why do I have to be the GM of the Leafs? That means I’m trading the pick for Semyon Varlamov and a bag of pucks.

Is it 2012 and bobby orr can have his knee scoped and be fine in a month? Or does Orr have an injury that still wrecks his career in 2012 (concussion, ACL, …)?

FFS Blair, it’s Kronwall, not Kronwell. >_<

Declan Hill any day over Vendetta’s “who should play goal for the Leafs next year” call in segment. He actually brought up Dominik Hasek’s name! Not that it would surprise me if the Leafs signed him…….

    Bob,

Its a no-brainer – you pick Orr and don’t look back. I’m a bit young to remember Orr but all one has to do is check out this highlight reel and you’ll see why Orr is the greatest. I searched, there is no such reel for Lidstrom.

one of the talking points about Lidstrom the last few days is that he isn’t a “highlight reel” guy. Just steady and solid at a very high level.

I did not ask who you thought was the better player, ( different eras.) I asked who would you select today. A clue, would you like Bobby for 10 years or Nick for 20.

It’s always tricky to imagine how players from another era would fare in this one though. :\
