Toronto Sports Media Sports Radio Lineups

by Rob Gregg

Ryan Suter and Zach Parise hit the jackpot today, signing identical 13 year, $98 million contracts with the Minnesota Wild. This huge domino falling should drive more signings and trades over the next few weeks in the NHL.

Here’s your drive home lineups:

400 – Tim Micallef & Paul Jones, Sportsnet 590 The FAN
420 – Bob Elliott, Toronto Sun
520 – Sebastien Bourdais, IZOD Indy Series driver
540 – Scott Morrison, Sportsnet
600 – Neil Sheehy, player agent
610 – Lou Nanne, former Minnesota North Star
620 – Roy Mlakar, former Senators CEO & President

On TSN Radio 1050 from 4-7pm, Cybulski & Co., with James Cybulski. Bob Mackowycz co-hosts:

On TSN (5pm) & TSN2 (6:30pm), Off the Record with Michael Landsberg:

Darren Dreger, TSN Hockey Insider
Mitch Williams, MLB Insider
Big Boi, Rapper (Outkast)

Tonight on Sportsline:

After signing Parise & Weber, are the Minnesota Wild Stanley Cup contenders? Has Brian Burke’s philosophy stepped in the way of making the Maple Leafs a winner? If Tiger Woods beats Sam Snead’s PGA record for victories, is he the best golfer of all time and is Adam Lind the long term solution at first base for the Blue Jays? Join Hebsy & Bubbs, tonight at 7 on CHCH.

Is it just me or is Friedman on 590 A LOT these days? Roundtable, co-hosting PTS, I guess he said he will co-hosting Tim and Sid tomorrow.

Is there fire to this smoke?

I believe last week was the four year anniversary of this website

Happy belated anniversary TSM !!!!!!!

Before yesterday I was about to say that Bob Ryan, if he’s weekly or close, would be awesome and basically replace Shulman in some ways and better in other ways. According to last nights show Ryan is retiring soon! Well hopefully he’ll still be able to do PTS somewhat.

@Sam totally agree with you RE Boston Globe Colmnist Bob Ryan. Ryan is the man ad is awesome to listen to on the radio. He’s go much knowleg and he and McCown hve great banter……

Anyone else think Elliotte Friedman is getting poised to make the full time jump to Rogers?? I think his contract with CBC must be near its end date????

Been a good week on the morning show Jim Lang & Mike Farwell do a great job!

according to Buster Olney via MLBTR, “Blue Jays actually finished third in the bidding for Yu Darvish behind the Rangers and Cubs. No bid was within $35MM of the $51.7MM Texas submitted.”

if i’m reading that right this means they bid no more than $16 million (or $2.5 million/year over the life of the deal) for Darvish. Pretty lame. He would look rather good in this moribund top of the rotation.

I wonder if Ryan retires from the Globe and still remains an ESPN employee, he might then be bound by ESPN policy about going on competing radio stations.

As I’ve said before, I assume that conveys to TSN in Canada, given all the ESPN people that were on regulars on 590 (shulman, munson, …) are now on 1050..

Always enjoy Elliott as a co-host.

Would love to hear Friedman in the Fan more often. I think he’s fantastic. Would make a fantastic PTS cohost when Brunt is away.

Read this tonight and thought this was an excellent summary of the Jays season so far, and prospects going forward, if anyone wants a long read:

Why is it whenever Tim is around Bob, Bob ends up spending 10 minutes talking about hair? -_-

Maybe because hockey season is over and he’s suddenly more available and needs something to do?

he joked today that he is building an addition to his house.

If he doesn’t have commitments to the CBC, he is free to do as he wants. Plus, he got his break at CJCL interning for McCown and worked with Tim and Sid over at The Score, so he is happy to come in and get a few extra bucks in the process. If CBC looses the TV rights at the end of the 2012-2013 season, I think he likely does wind up at Rogers and not Bell, as he is multi-sport flexible.

I am wondering if Elliotte is returning to FAN airwaves – in honor or sort of tribute to the FAN celebrating 20 years talking sports in Toronto?

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
