blessed be the Old School Bikini OTDs … after clicking on one for nostalgic purposes I was led to Mike S’ legendary throwdown with then 640 employee Greg Brady. I’m not sure what i like better:

    – Mike S doesn’t respond directly to Brady directly initially, referring to him as “he”.
    – Brady referencing A Few Good Men in response to his own comment
    – Brady slamming the FAN and PTS
    – the nuanced discussion about whether Nelson Millman would or would not have illegitimate children
    – Mike S quasi propositioning Brady at the end.

Anyway, solid stuff and good memories from a different era. Cheers to you both.

Haha! Wow, I missed that one. Pretty funny…

Brady really did hammer 590 a lot when he was at 640. You don’t hear him do that with 1050, nowadays. Maybe Sportsnet frowns on that kind of thing.

Dirk Hayhurst on his first foray into broadcasting:

Personally, I thought the baseball central show was good. I hope they bring Hayhurst back next year. Was cool to hear baseball talk.

On Sept 6th it will switch back to Hockey Central. I can understand wrapping up the baseball show, because with the Jays totally falling out of it, there won’t be so much interest in the last couple weeks of the season.

But if hockey doesn’t start back up again until Xmas, isn’t Hockey Central going to get pretty dry? I mean, are they going to talk CBA for two months? I would just let Tim and Sid do 12-4 until things get going.

I was looking for Hayhurst’s book today while I was at Barnes and Noble and it was sold out. Good for him. I’ve enjoyed Baseball Central.

Jonah Keri was an awesome guest, glad to hear Elliotte recount that he has an old Expos warm-up jersey, and that it still fits him, which sure surprised me. Jonah will be flying in from Denver to sit in Section 240 for Sunday’s game vs. Tampa Bay, as part of the Expos contingent, of which I will proudly be one of them. Jonah gave lots of exclusives to Elliotte on his definitive Expos book that will be out Spring 2014. It sounds amazing, with comparisons to the old Bill James abstracts which I loved, so I can’t wait. There are over 150 of us via the facebook page confirmed to attend, and with the extra publicity, I hope to see the numbers swell to over 200. I will be decked out in my Expos gear singing The Happy Wanderer with the Val-deri, val-de-ra, Val-de-ri, val-de-ra, ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha, Val-de-ri, val-de-ra chorus.

Haha…………..I remember that exchange with Mr. Brady, especially the “code red” reference and his poking fun of me for criticizing 640 not too long after I won a contest on that station…………….it was pretty cool to have him post comments on this site, although I guess I understand why he doesn’t do that anymore
When I made that comment in March 2009 I didn’t know him very well……………but I have become one of his biggest supporters……………I ended up having several e-mail exchanges with him during his last year at 640……………….it was great to get his take on various Toronto sports radio issues……………..I like the way he tries to interact with his listeners

Dirk has done a very nice job and has added a much needed new voice to the toronto baseball scene.
