Was Mike D’Antoni the best choice as the new Head Coach of the LA Lakers? Does the CFL need to enforce a concussion policy based on Drew Tate’s admission that he “didn’t remember” the first half. Has quarterback Michael Vick lost his starting job for good with the Philadelphia Eagles? This plus the Hebsy’s with Mark and Bubbs today at 5, on CHCH.
Bob’s first guest tonight, Butch Carter, maybe the top FOB. I don’t mind Carter at all in fact I rather enjoy his takes on the NBA. Would much rather him then either of the Jones or Armstrong, those three are a waste of air.
Welcome back John Shannon!!
Among FOBs I find Carter to be quite a good interview … always well spoken and thoughtful. Not in the “FOB slimeball” category (props to Roger) at all.
That said, like so many ex-Toronto coaches, his reputation seems to be higher in Toronto than everywhere else. The sad state of Toronto sports …
Stan Kasten the past few times on has seemed to be not taking the Bob inside jokes as well as he did before he got the Dodger gig, maybe it’s just me.
Butch Carter would be a terrific change from Smith and Jones. After the Sixers’ games Eric Smith was saying something about the criticism, by the fans of the Raptors, was understandable, but don’t expect he and Jones to agree because they know the inside stuff that fans aren’t privy to. But rather than any inside info, Jones/Smith proceeded to have opinions based on homerism, mind reading, and not upsetting their bosses. Hope when TSN shares the Raptor radio broadcast they get more thoughtful (Wilner-like?) post-game show.
Cybulski/Mackowycz had a great show from the Hall of Fame. Funny line from Macko:
“I love hockey players in suits. They wear suits like their being punished, forced to go to Sunday School.”
You lost me at ‘more thoughtful (Wilner-like?’
All basketball guests are a FF or switch to 1050 situation for me.
I like Carter as a guest and he wasn’t a bad coach either.
My comment also ties into the sad state of Toronto sports’ teams. Do you notice how almost every GM, coach or manager we’ve had over the past 10 years or so haven’t been re-hired by another team? Some of course have retired (Quinn and Gaston) but the others were simply incompetent boobs who no one else would touch with a ten foot pole.
Makes you wonder if anyone will hire Burke after he’s gased by the leafs.
