looking forward to cybulski/mackowycz’s take on the burton cummings’ oh canada and the beiber half time show.
it’s too bad that 590 consultant wants bob to take more calls. That 4pm segment is getting dull. It sounds bob’s heart not into talking to listeners. In the early 80’s bob could do listener calls, I remember he had a favourite caller named archie who was a regular. now it seems a burden.

i remember there was much fanfare when they got rid of calls. Bob explicitly addressed it on the air, and i think they even took calls on it. anyway, it’s weird that they haven’t said much to explain why they have gone back to taking calls. i suppose the leading explanation is the lockout, but perhaps that’s not the only reason.

i agree with your assessment though. when i was growing up it seemed to me that Bob’s call-in segments were their own league. listening to Bob take calls these days is basically the same as listening to Jeff Blair or Bryan Hayes take calls (except the callers usually know more than Bob).

poll question for next weekend: what makes for a good call-in segment? anything?
