Did anyone hear the 1st hour of PTS today? A called told Bob how much he apriciated his interview a while ago with Doyle Brunson, Bob had ZERO recolection of the interview, unreal.

to be fair, the caller did say the interview happened in the last year, and it turned out the interview was 3 years ago.

With the amount of interviews that he does in the run of a week, it does not surprise me that he does not remember interviewing someone as a one off, let alone one 3 years ago

I thought Bob was a flippant twat about Tom Cheek’s HOF induction. Didn’t get to hear the interview with Elliott but the way he tossed it off at the start of the show was crap.

On the other hand, Jeff Sammut was amazing. This guy is becoming a real pro. His interview with Jerry was great radio.

Given Bob’s Vegas connections, I wonder what kind of relationship he had with the old school poker crowd.

The interview with Elliott was great. Give it a listen.

Bob does anywhere from 5-8 interviews every day except Fridays where he might still do 2 in the 4pm hour. That’s at the very least 20 interviews a week, and as many as 34. All told he probably does about 800 a year at the minimum (to be generous I gave him 12 weeks off.) I wouldn’t expect anybody to remember every single interview they do with a workload like that, much less remember an interview from 3 years ago.

Especially since, to him, this is work, so he probably doesn’t want to think about it after he’s done. To us, it’s entertainment, so of course we are more likely to remember these things, but to him it’s just work, and he’s as likely to remember every detail of a specific work day as any of us would about our work days.

I actually do remember that interview, and what struck me as interesting is Bob assumed that the “old school” poker crowd wouldn’t know statistics, and would just play by “instinct” and Brunson surprised him by saying that statistics are important and it’s important to know the odds of each hand. I remembered that because it struck me as a little naive of Bob to have fallen for the myth of the “old school” gambler who plays purely by instinct given that he’s such a big poker fan.

What I found interesting about his interview with Elliott is that Bob said that he always respected Cheek for not going after Bob for criticizing the Blue Jays or a Blue Jays player on his show, and that not every Jays broadcaster has that control. I wondered if Bob was taking a shot at Wilner, and might have given us a hint as to why Wilner is banned from PTS when Bob’s on?

See, that’s what makes me nuts about Bob. It’s always about him. You really think Tom Cheek gave a “flying fadoo” about what he said about the Jays?

Poker player. Or, a good reason to play Rush.
Nothing makes me turn the radio off quicker than a poker player being on.

Good point.
Ken Scott was an engineer that worked with the Beatles. I had the pleasure to communicate with him for a while. All the stupid little details we would throw at him meant nothing to him. He said he was just working, and no one knew at that time that the Beatles would be over analyzed the way they are now. He was just doing his job.
