So Bob finally decides to `snap` about the Raptors with Jack Armstrong. Where was this attitude when Colangelo was on just LAST NIGHT!! Typical Bob, tough guy when he isn`t speaking to anybody important I:E Burke, Colangelo, A.A, J.P, Ferguson, Babcock an the list goes on.

And enough already with the begging for listeners & viewers money. How about they ask for money to improve some of the shit hole areas in and around Toronto, god knows there are enough of them.

Bob criticized Gary Bettman for not getting better TV contracts, but in the past he has always said that the US ‘knows’ hockey and has decided they don’t like it. So if Bob is stating that the TV ratings in the US will always be minuscule how exactly is Bettman supposed to make the US networks pay big bucks for NHL rights?
I also remember Bob saying that Sportsnet paid so much for NHL games that they lose money on every game they show. Bettman certainly negotiated a good deal for the NHL there.
It’s too bad Bob doesn’t show the same contempt he has for Bettman to those FOB and criminals Alan Eagleson and Eugene Melnyk.

Interesting comment by Shannon right at the end about FOB Tillman “I don’t think he ever gets another job in the CFL” He siad it in a way that made me think there might be more to the Edmonton story.

One can only hope, how a guy who pleaded his way out of a sexual abuse charge got another shot in any League is beyond me, I say he ends up back in Ottawa when they are back.

yikes! and i thought i was tough on Bob!
.

we’ve learned that Bob is easily intimidated by the guys in the expensive suits who talk a good game — Burke and Colangelo. He’s just not the host to ask tough questions to the local heavyweights. He’ll go toe to toe with nice-guys AA or Beeston, and he’ll get angry with the occasional media scrub from the US though, so i guess that’s something.

The Tillman thing is more complex because Bob was very upfront about wanting to root for his friend, but not feeling good about it. I think Bob feels that he has a role to play in Tillman’s redemption arc. I don’t agree, but it’s not my radio show. I just skip those segments.

in other news … excellent interview with Matthieu Schneider of the NHLPA from TSN 1050. it included some very tough questions from Mackowitz. highly recommended listening .

then feel free to donate your money to the charities that will help those areas. This pledge fund is to build schools in Africa, and some people believe that is important as well

You do realize that if you talk to Colangelo and the like, like you want them to, they don’t come back on the show. That’s not the way you get information. You talk to the suits to get the information. You talk to the analysts and then give your opinion. I honestly think that Bob showed his displeasure to Colangelo in a forceful but respectful way.

Sportsnet deals are local ones that are negotiated with the clubs directly, not the league. Bob is right that the US network deals are unimpressive.
