Millard, shannon and maclean. Worst possible noon line up?
Listening to a few minutes of Tim and Sid on the 1 year anniversary. This was the one show that 590 got right from the beginning. The rest of the line up involved luck and trial and error. 590 went after Mike Richards hard lost(or won). Then they had Andrew Krystal in the mornings. I remember Jeff Blair before he got the 9-12pm slot, he auditioned for co-host with Krystal in the mornings(horrible radio). Brady was hosting Hockey Central and his afternoon show with Don Kollins quoted in the paper that Brady ‘wasn’t ready for mornings yet’. Bob was moved to 3pm them moved back to 4pm. This 590 we have today didn’t spring from some brilliant master plan, there were many mistakes and false starts and being blessed with a 1050 making even more mistakes. Where 590 deserves credit is recognizing shortcomings quicker than 1050 and correcting them. Firing Krystal, getting rid of Grange as Blair’s co-host(those were painful shows), moving Brady to mornings, hiring Lang and Farwell, stealing Cox as he was about to sign with TSN, etc. Meanwhile 1050 has gone with Richards, Patrick/MacArthur, Hayes, Cybulski from the beginning and makes no major changes no matter what the ratings say.
“Stealing” cox may be the bad thing on the list.
Like many people, i wish 590 could swap.cox and arthur.
I like MacLean, so I would say Millard & Shannon & Brad May
